• Listens public grievances, assures them of speedy redressal of issues

BARAMULLA: In an endeavour to bring the whole administration at the door steps of the local population, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today visited border village of Salamabad Uri and presided over a Block Diwas programme organized by the District Administration Baramulla.

The Block Diwas was attended by the Sub Divisional Magistrate Uri, Javaid Ahmad; Chief Education Officer Baramulla, other district officers, public representatives, concerned citizens and a large number of people from border village of Salamabad and other adjacent villages. 

Throughout the programme, community members and their representatives voiced their grievances and demands which included construction of dispensary near border village Soura and upgradation of road connectivity to the village, renovation of government school building at Basgran, inflated electricity bills in non metered areas, tapping of tourism potential in the Uri Sub division among others. 

Additionally, the progressive farmers from the Uri Sub-division also spoke during the occasion, enlightening the participants with their expertise to grow efficiently and for their self-sustenance. 

During the program, Minga Sherpa individually responded to all the queries raised during the block diwas programme and issued on-spot directions to the concerned department heads for the speedy redressal of the highlighted grievances and demands.  The DC further emphasized that the district administration would work in a time bound manner towards tapping border tourism potential of Uri Sub-division. 

Additionally, the DC highlighted that under HADP (Holistic Agriculture Development Programme) 24,000 applications were received out of which 8000 applications were approved, thereby providing eligible beneficiaries new income avenues with highly subsidized projects.

Additionally, Minga Sherpa distributed various department sponsored smart-tablets, certificates and sanction letters among eligible beneficiaries during the block diwas. Earlier, Minga Sherpa inspected multiple stalls set up by various departments, including Education, Agriculture, Health, ICD among others showcasing a range of government schemes, services, and facilities aimed at benefiting the public.
