REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Mahajan chaired a meeting of the District Monitoring Committee on 10000 FPO Central Sector scheme here in the DC Office complex to review the saturation and formulation of FPOs in the District. The scheme envisages to organize small and marginal farmers into business organizations by pooling their efforts on input supply and production management so that they can reap the benefits of collaboration.
The DC reviewed the present status of the formation of FPOs in the twelve blocks of the District, of which FPOs have been formed and registered in 10 blocks. He instructed the JCC Bank, one of the cluster based business organizations, to speed up the formation of FPOs in the remaining two blocks viz; Chassana and Gulabgarh.
The DDC also gave go-ahead to the three-month campaign initiated by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under MoA&FW, which aims to equip the FPOs with farming related business licenses viz; fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, e-NAM registration, GST registration, FSSAI, ONDC onboarding, etc. He instructed the department of agriculture, nodal department for the campaign to initiate the campaign in coordination with other departments & FPOs.
He guided the FPOs to promote specific crops like Ginger, Turmeric, Garlic, Lemon Grass, etc, in cluster mode so as to develop crop specific villages wherein the supply side as well as the processing cum value addition by FPOs could be done with better economies. He instructed the FPOs to put in efforts to achieve the sales target of up to ₹25.00 lakh set for the FY 2024-25, while asking the concerned departments to appoint one officer for coordinating with FPOs at Block level.
