• Says basic infrastructure lacks in many villages

SAMBA: Continuing the public outreach program, the Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today has accused the administration of not giving adequate priority to the development, and implementation of public welfare scheme in Samba District that has affected the normal life of the people.

As per a press release, a meeting was organized here at village Meen Charkan in Bari Brahmana of Samba District to discuss various issues confronted by the people. During the meeting, the participants raised the issue of the adverse condition of roads with huge potholes, damaged lanes, and drains.

On hearing them, the Former Minister expressed surprise as to how administration and its respective departments fail to check the developmental work on the ground that require immediate response for the welfare of the people. “Public funds are provided by the Govt to upgrade the living standard by ensuring developmental works. However, the situation in various villages and wards of Samba District is different,” he added.

He stated that the situation is alarming for the people who have lost their faith in the Govt and its administration that has created a wedge and failed to work for the public welfare. “In these last several years, the trust between the people, and the administration has reduced and hence, the people also avoid going to the respective administrative offices in their tehsils because of non-responsive attitude of the officials, and arrogance that is responsible for mistrust,” he stated.

He said that the people want to bring change in the governance and hence, they are desperately waiting for elections in Jammu and Kashmir for its legislative assembly.

Citing anger among the people as a reason for disconnection and mistrust, he said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have also sought restoration of statehood.

He said that the hopes of the people were again compromised by granting more powers to the Lt Governor of J&K than an elected Govt. Thus, these additional powers to the LG J&K would make the elected Govts weaker in taking decisions in favour of the people, and it is believed that the bureaucracy would continue to dominate the elected Govt.

He however asked the people to extend their support to the Apni Party in the proposed Assembly Elections in J&K to bring positive change in favour of the general masses, uneducated people, and fulfill the equitable developmental aspiration of the people across the regions.
