HAJIN: Halqa e Adab Sonawari (HAS), the oldest Literary Organization in Kashmir, has officially announced the names of the recipients of the yearly awards for the year 2024. The announcement was made during an informal event by Shakir Shafi, a senior functionary of HAS along with other senior members. The prestigious 'Khilat e Hajini' award, named in honor of the literary giant of Kashmir, Professor Mohid ud Din Hajini, will be presented to the very popular poet and prolific writer of North Kashmir's Spore Town, Shehnaz Rashid. Shehnaz Rashid's outstanding contributions to Kashmiri literature have earned him this esteemed recognition.
Additionally, the renowned 'Khilat e Aziz Hajini' award, presented annually to a meritorious Sufi poet contributing to Sufi (Kashmiri Mystic Poetry), will be bestowed upon Nissar Dildar. Nissar Dildar, an author of numerous poetry collections in the Kashmiri language focusing on mysticism, is being honored for his exceptional literary work.
In addition to these two awards, the 'Aziz Hajini Gold Medal' will also be awarded to a student who has achieved the highest marks at the Bachelor's level in Kashmiri subject. This award aims to recognize and encourage academic excellence among students in the field of literature and poetry.
The recipients of these prestigious awards have been selected by different committees within HAS, comprised of esteemed members with expertise in the field of literature and poetry. These awards will be presented during the two-day literary conference, "Youm e Aslaaf," being organized by HAS on 14th-15th September 2024 at Hajin. The conference will provide a platform for literary enthusiasts, poets, writers, and scholars to come together to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and literary traditions of Kashmir.
