SHOPIAN: The District Health Society (DHS) Shopian in collaboration with District Statistics & Evaluation Office, Shopian today organized a one day training programme for ‘Registration of Births & Deaths’ through Modified Civil Registration System (CRS) Portal. The training session was held under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer at Mini Secretariat, here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Medical Officer emphasized the need for implementation of CRS through the portal and highlighted the significance of the training programme and the role of the notified registrars which is of prime importance for socio-economic planning.
Additional District Registrar (District Statistics & Evaluation Officer, Shopian) highlighted the role of notified Registrars who are instrumental for the implementation of the revised Birth & Death Rules 2022. She also highlighted the utility of Birth and Death Certificates along with the importance of recording the occurrence and the characteristics of the vital events.
DPM and DMEO, the resource persons from the District Health Society Shopian highlighted the need for implementation of Civil Registration System- Registration of Birth & Death Rules- 2022, along with the importance of recording the occurrence of the vital event which shall be subsequently used to study the demographic profile and other features such as maternal and child health etc.
During the training programme, a detailed presentation was given on duties and responsibilities of registration functionaries involved in the Civil Registration System with special focus on the role of local registrars for the issuance of Birth and Death Certificates in the areas falling within their jurisdiction of Shopian District. The training was attended by BDOs, EO MC Shopian, Medical Superintendents/ Medical Officers of Shopian District along with their dealing officials.
