JAMMU: Police Hospital Jammu under the leadership of Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal, Medical Superintendent celebrated the Raising Day of the Police Hospital Jammu. During the celebration, sweets were distributed among all the Doctors, Para-medical/office staff of PHJ who were found to be in great enthusiasm.
Police Hospital Jammu initially started functioning way back in the year 1964 as a dispensary with one pharmacist and one nursing orderly. With the change of time and enhancement of strength of J&K Police, a Medical Officer was posted in the year 1980 to cater the requirement of in-service/retired police personnel and their dependents.
The said dispensary was thereafter up-graded to the status of a 20-beded hospital vide Govt. order No.Home-361 (Police) of 1979 dated 27.07.1979. Since then, this hospital is providing services to the serving/retired police personnel and their family members round the clock. The establishment of Police Hospital Jammu on 27th July marks a great achievement towards extending better healthcare services to the police personnel both in-service/retired as well as to their dependents.
Meanwhile, a plantation drive was also carried out in the premises of PHJ with the assistance of J&K Forest Department during which a high quality (hybrid) fruit plant was planted. In this way a precedence has been set to celebrate this day now onwards with great fervor and with the spirit of leading this hospital to new heights by achieving new benchmarks.
