KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Rakesh Minhas on Monday inaugurated a series of training programs for ICDS field functionaries as part of “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative. The initiative aims to equip workers with comprehensive knowledge and essential skills crucial for nurturing children during their formative years.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC underscored the program’s core motive, emphasizing its pivotal role in promoting early stimulation, providing high-quality play-based early childhood care and education, and reinforcing understanding of nutrition among all stakeholders. The DC emphasised on capacity building and skill enhancement as the training program seeks to empower Anganwadi workers to effectively cater to the diverse needs of children under their care.
District Programme Officer Shokat Mehmood reiterated the program’s commitment to holistic development, foundational literacy, and numeracy, ensuring a comprehensive approach to child welfare in the region. He said the training will be held in 15 batches each having 100 sanginis who will be trained by state level master trainer and under the supervision of concerned CDPO who shall be the Course Director for their respective projects.
The programme will cover all units of POSHAN spanning across 08 POSHAN projects covering 1641 operational Anganwadi Centres of Kathua district namely Kathua, Barnoti, Hiranagar, Billawar, Basohli, Bani, Duggan and Lohai Malhar starting from 1st July to 27th August 2024.
