JAMMU: As the sacred Shri Amarnath Yatra approaches, with pilgrims already arriving in Jammu, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Executive Member Raman Suri has called upon the Union Territory (UT) administration to ensure meticulous planning and execution to cater to the needs of devotees. With just one month remaining before the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji begins, Suri emphasized the need for the administration to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing every aspect of the yatra, from registration and accommodation to transportation, infrastructure, and robust security arrangements.

“The Shri Amarnath Yatra is not just a spiritual journey but a vital lifeline for Jammu’s tourism sector and the broader economy of the region,” said Suri. “With the potential for record participation this year, the administration must leave no stone unturned to ensure a seamless and secure experience for pilgrims. This is a golden opportunity to showcase Jammu’s hospitality and boost local businesses, which rely heavily on the influx of devotees.”

Raman Suri urged the administration, particularly the tourism department, to approach preparations with utmost seriousness and dedication. He highlighted the need for a comprehensive strategy to promote Jammu’s lesser-known tourist attractions to pilgrims visiting from across India and abroad. “While the yatra draws devotees to the holy cave, we must capitalize on this opportunity to showcase the rich cultural and natural heritage of Jammu and its surrounding areas,” he noted. “Promoting destinations beyond the revered Mata Vaishno Devi temple and Patnitop will not only enhance the pilgrims’ experience but also stimulate economic growth across the region.”

The BJP leader called for a collaborative effort between the administration, the tourism department, and local stakeholders to develop a robust plan to attract pilgrims to explore Jammu’s scenic and cultural landmarks. “From historic sites to breathtaking landscapes, Jammu has much to offer. A well-executed promotional campaign during the yatra can significantly increase tourist footfall, benefiting local businesses, hotels, transporters, and vendors,” Raman Suri added.

He further stressed the importance of flawless coordination to ensure pilgrims’ safety and comfort, given the challenging terrain and unpredictable weather conditions. “The administration must prioritize world-class facilities, including medical support, clean accommodations, and efficient transportation, while maintaining stringent security measures to instill confidence among devotees,” he said.

Suri expressed optimism that a successful yatra would not only elevate Jammu’s stature as a premier pilgrimage and tourism destination but also contribute significantly to the economic prosperity of the Union Territory. “The Shri Amarnath Yatra is a matter of pride for every resident of Jammu and Kashmir. Let us work together to make this year’s pilgrimage a resounding success, setting a benchmark for future yatras,” he said.
