JAMMU: Ahead of the upcoming Union Budget 2024-25, Vishwas NGO, a J & K-based registered organization working for the welfare and rights of vulnerable sections of society, has issued a fervent appeal to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The organization has requested the union government to dedicate this budget to the working class of India and ensure a substantial increase in minimum wages across the country.
Vishwas NGO emphasizes the urgent need to ensure that every worker in the country receives fair and just remuneration for their labor. They argue that the current minimum wage is insufficient to meet the rising cost of living and fails to provide workers with the financial security they deserve. The NGO is urging the government to take immediate and decisive action in the forthcoming budget to address this critical issue.
Munish Sharma, the Chairman of Vishwas NGO, stated in his demand, "It is imperative that the government recognizes the struggles faced by the labor force in our country. The minimum wage should reflect the true cost of living and should enable workers to live with dignity and security."
In its argument for an increase in minimum wages, the NGO further stated that by increasing the minimum wage, the government would not just support individual workers but also promote a healthier and more equitable economy. When workers are paid fairly, they can invest more in their families, education, and health, which in turn contributes to the overall development of the nation.
