JAMMU: Mission Shakti SANKALP - Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW), under the Social Welfare Department J&K, organised an awareness camp at the Anganwadi Centre in Naseeb Nagar, Janipur.
The camp, held in association with Mission Poshan, focused on educating pregnant and lactating mothers about nutrition and the need for adequate rest before childbirth. The event was organised under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Jammu, Mamta Rajput.
Dr. Nisha Dutt, a gynecologist, served as the resource person, highlighting essential elements for maintaining health during and after pregnancy. District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, Shagun Manchanda, explained the objectives of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) Scheme, which provides direct benefit transfer (DBT) financial support to improve the health and nutrition of mothers and children.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from pregnant women and lactating mothers. Officials emphasized the importance of a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins. They also discussed the positive impact of PMMVY on the lives of pregnant women. Several beneficiaries shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the support received through the scheme.
New beneficiaries were registered under the PMMVY and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana during the camp. Gender Specialist SANKALP HEW, Khushboo Kapte, provided information on several other schemes, including PMJAY, Health Insurance, and the importance of the Ayushman Bharat Card. The program concluded with the distribution of nutritional kits and baby kits to pregnant and lactating mothers.
