KISHTWAR: In a significant move to promote cleanliness and environmental sustainability, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, led a Swachhta drive under the "Swachhata Pakhwada"  of the "Suchitra Sangram" initiative at Machail area of Padder, today. Dr. Devansh Yadav was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development Phulail Singh, Executive Engineer PHED Sunil Sharma, BMO Padder Dr. Anil Kumar, and police officials, among others.

The drive also saw voluntary participation from the ongoing Shree Machail Mata yatris (pilgrims) and local residents, reflecting a collective commitment to maintaining the sanctity of this revered site.

The Swachhta Pakhwada initiative, which is currently ongoing across the district, aims to instill the spirit of cleanliness and protect the ecological integrity of religious and public places. Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of such drives in preserving the environment and ensuring that sacred sites like Shree Machail Yatra Bhawan remain clean and welcoming for all visitors.

The local community's support and appreciation for the Deputy Commissioner's initiative were evident, with many praising the efforts to maintain ecological and environmental standards. The drive at Machail is a part of a broader campaign being conducted throughout Kishtwar under the Swachhata Pakhwada, with similar activities taking place in various parts of the district.

DC Kishtwar urged both locals and yatris to maintain the spirit of cleanliness throughout the ongoing annual Shree Machail Yatra. He appealed to everyone to use the dustbins installed at langar (community kitchen) points, along the route, and at the Bhawan to ensure that waste is disposed of properly.

"Maintaining cleanliness at our religious and public places is not just about aesthetics; it's about respecting our environment and heritage. I urge all visitors and residents to use the facilities provided and help us keep Shree Machail Yatra Bhawan clean and green," said Dr. Yadav.

Assistant Commissioner Development Phulail Singh and other officials also echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of community participation in such initiatives. They acknowledged the contributions of the local residents and yatris who actively took part in the drive, making it a successful and impactful event.

The Deputy Commissioner's initiative has set a commendable example, encouraging others to follow suit and contribute to the Swachhata Pakhwada campaign. As the annual yatra continues, the message of cleanliness and environmental stewardship remains at the forefront, inspiring pilgrims and residents alike to uphold these values.
