RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Om Prakash Bhagat today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness to meet any eventuality in the Monsoon season. The officers from different departments briefed the meeting about their measures to tackle the situation arising due to rains. A comprehensive discussion was held on important points such as the identification of flood-prone areas, land loss areas, traffic management in flood-affected areas and others. Officers were instructed to maintain a close vigil on these areas and increase the public awareness about the potential hazards.
Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat, emphasized the importance of coordination among all stakeholders to effectively mitigate the impact of the monsoons. The Irrigation and Flood Control (I & FC) department was asked to ensure proper repair and desilting of irrigation canals and keep issuing regular updates regarding the water level in the rivers/streams. The officer from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was directed to ensure a proper drainage system from Phalayana to Salani on NH144A. The SDRF was asked to stay fully prepared and ready to quickly respond in case any such situation arises.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the officers to remain prepared to respond promptly in case of any emergency arising out of heavy rains. He stressed the importance of being proactive and taking preventive measures to minimize the impact of monsoons. He also asked the officers to ensure that all necessary equipment and resources are in place and that the emergency services are on high alert. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the need for a coordinated approach to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents during the monsoon season.
