SAMBA: Department of Sociology, Government Degree College Vijaypur on Thursday organised a plantation drive as Part of Course-Related Activity on the College Campus. The activity aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and raising awareness among students about the importance of green initiatives. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty, who collectively planted various saplings across the campus grounds. The plantation drive was carefully planned to not only contribute to the beautification of the college campus but also to educate students about the significance of trees in reducing carbon footprints, combating climate change, and improving overall air quality.
The College Principal Dr. Vandana Verma, remarked, "This initiative not only helps to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our campus but also provides an opportunity for students to engage in activities that contribute to the preservation of our environment. She emphasized the involvement of the young generation in the preservation and conservation of the natural resources of the environment.
The event was coordinated by the Department of Sociology under the headship of Dr.Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD, Sociology) along with Dr Priyanka Ganjoo and Ms. Pooja devi. The faculty members present in the plantation drive were Prof. Anita Jamwal, Prof Mamta Gupta, Prof Ritu Bhagat, Prof Poonam Kundan, Dr.Manoj Heer, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary and all other faculty members.
