KATHUA: Continuing the spirit of service under Sewa Parv 2025, a host of activities focusing on cleanliness, greenery, welfare and awareness were today organised across Kathua district.
At Municipal Council Kathua, a Lok Kalyan Mela and PM Awas Mela Shehri was held with Additional District Development Commissioner Surinder Mohan Sharma as Chief Guest. He urged street vendors to avail benefits under the restructured PM SVANidhi Scheme, while felicitating two beneficiaries who completed their houses during Sewa Parv. A Swachhta Pledge and Nukkad Natak were also held to spread awareness on government schemes.
In Bani, Forest Range Bani in collaboration with Forest Protection Force and other departments conducted a large-scale Swachhta and Awareness Drive with over 250 participants. The Social Forestry Division organised plantation drives at Government Schools Bani and Kagore (Basohli), while similar activities were held by MC Hiranagar.
Cleanliness drives were carried out at Narsingh Dev Mandir Ghagwal, Horticulture Office Bani, Main Market Billawar and other locations. NSS Unit of GLDM GDC Hiranagar extended relief to flood-affected families at Village Chakra besides conducting a cleanliness drive.
The Sheep Husbandry Department held Deworming Camps in Mahanpur, while ITIs at Basohli and Bani organised Skill Demo Day and awareness on PM Vishwakarma Scheme. MC Billawar hosted a Wall Painting Competition and provided prosthetic aid to elderly persons, along with a PM SVANidhi Camp.
MC Parole organised a Swachhta Pledge during Lok Kalyan Mela with participation of Tehsildar Parole, citizens and PMAY beneficiaries. Forest Range Ramkot conducted a Cleanliness and Polythene-Free Drive at Tedi Mata, Rajwalta with local participation.
