JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today addressed the All J&K Jat Sabha in Jammu. In his address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the valour of armed forces and reaffirmed the government's resolve to completely rid J&K of terrorism.
“Pakistan is on notice. If it resorts to any misadventure in future, our armed forces will make sure to destroy this terrorist state. I assure the people that there will be no discrimination between armed terrorists and their supporters and sympathisers. Their actions will be met with similar punishment,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor appealed to the brave Jat Community and all sections of society to strengthen their resolve and unite in the fight against the divisive forces threatening our peace and social fabric. In these challenging times, your responsibility to uphold national unity is more crucial than ever, he added.
“Jat community has a rich legacy of valour, courage, and sacrifice. A significant population of the Jat community resides near our borders, making them the country's first line of defence. I am proud that your devotion to the motherland has deepened the spirit of nationalism in the society,” Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor paid homage to victims of Pahalgam Terror Attack and those killed due to unprovoked shelling by Pakistan. He said the Government of India is committed to proper rehabilitation of the affected families. The Lieutenant Governor, in his address, further called for recognising the threat from divisive elements who are trying to divide the society.
“We must celebrate our diversity and foster unity to defeat the Adversary’s nefarious designs. Our brave Armed Forces have scripted a new saga of valor with 'Operation Sindoor.' It is now our sacred task to transform the vision of a United and Viksit Bharat into reality and pay a fitting tribute to our bravehearts who cherished the dream of a powerful nation,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, for ushering in an era of equality in Jammu and Kashmir, and empowering marginalized communities. He also reiterated his commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the Jat community.

KISHTWAR: The National Yoga Olympiad 2025, a prestigious event showcasing the best of yoga, was organised today by the District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) Kishtwar. The initiative taken by NCERT on behalf of the Ministry of Education (MoE) aims to promote yoga in schools. Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kishtwar Shagun Parihar, inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest.
Chief Education Officer Masood Hussain Qazi; Principal GHSS Girls, Radha Rani; and Zonal Education Officer Shahnawaz Ahmed, also attended the function as special guests. In her inaugural address, the Chief Guest encouraged the participants and explained the importance of the theme of National Yoga Olympiad (NYO) 2025 — "Yoga for Health and Harmony," which aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle and promote well-being among learners.
Earlier, DNO for the “National Yoga Olympiad,” Sanjay Sharma, invited Sr. Academic Officer Riaz Ahmed Giri for the welcome address, while In-Charge Principal DIET Riaz Ahmed Butt apprised the audience about the event. The district-level competition witnessed a massive participation of nearly 100 students from middle and secondary schools of the District.
Students performed in different categories including Classes VI–VIII and IX–X (both boys and girls separately). All activities under the syllabus, including asanas (body postures), were demonstrated by participants under the overall supervision of DNO, DIET Sanjay Sharma.
It is pertinent to mention that the National Yoga Olympiad – 2025 was started by NCERT in 2016 as a follow-up to the International Day of Yoga observed every year on June 21. The promotion of yoga has become an integral part of NCERT activities to strengthen cultural moorings and uphold the country’s heritage, which emphasizes a healthy and wholesome life. The National Education Policy 2020 envisions instilling in learners a deep-rooted pride in being Indian — in thought, spirit, and intellect. Guiding the younger generation toward harmony, peace, and love through yoga is of utmost importance.
The jury members, comprising Daleep Kumar (Lecturer, HSS Kuchhal), Anoop Sharma (Master, High School Galigarh), Richa Mohan (Teacher, Middle School Bhoop Nagar), Sanjay Kumar Parihar (Master, MS Kundali), and Yoga Expert Kishori Lal Wazir, evaluated each team with dedication and selected 16 candidates for the next level of competition.
Prominent citizens, Academic Officers, staff members of DIET Kishtwar, faculty from various educational institutions, escort teachers, and ZNOs were present during the yoga competition. The 16 winners at the district level in Classes VI–VIII (girls & boys) and Classes IX–X (secondary level) will now compete in the divisional-level competition, followed by the national-level event to be held in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The event was organised under the overall supervision of SCERT Jammu and Kashmir, as per the guidelines issued by NCERT.
SRINAGAR: District Administration Srinagar today organized an awareness programme on Drug De-Addiction at Boys Higher Secondary School Palpora aimed at sensitizing masses about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging them to eradicate menace of drugs from the society. The event was held on the directions of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, as a part of an ongoing Drug Free Jammu and Kashmir initiative of the Government to educate students, staff members, and local residents about the growing menace of drug addiction and the collective responsibility to curb it.
During the event, informative sessions addressing the physical, mental, and social consequences of substance abuse were held to effectively sensitize the participants. On the occasion, the Artists from Cultural Unit Kashmir, Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), presented a powerful and thought-provoking short play to raise awareness about the growing menace of drug abuse.
The resource persons representing Social Welfare, Police, Health, Education, Excise and SMC, others emphasized the crucial role of education, awareness, and community involvement in eradicating the menace of drugs from society. The Students also contributed through speeches, skits, and discussions emphasizing the message of Drugs Free Kashmir. The awareness program witnessed active participation from students, local community members, Staff of the School.
SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today visited Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi at Rainawari Srinagar and paid obeisance there. The District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Srinagar led by its President, Jaspal Singh, apprised the Dy CM of various issues. They demanded declaration of holiday on 12th of June instead of 5 July on the occasion of Parkash Utsav of 6th Guru Guru Hargobind Sahib ji as per calendar Nanak Shahi Samvat 557 issued by Shrimoni Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (Amritsar).
They also demanded declaration of gazetted holiday on 30th May which is a restricted holiday on the occasion of Martyrdom Guru Arjan Dev ji. While interacting with the members of the delegation, the Dy CM reiterated that government is committed to provide all the necessary support to the community to realise their dreams and aspirations. The Dy CM assured the DGPC that he will discuss the issues with the concerned authorities for redress at the earliest. While paying obeisance, the Dy CM prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today laid the foundation stone of Guest House at Holy Shrine Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar. The Lieutenant Governor extended his felicitations to members of Jammu Kashmir Waqf Board and all the stakeholders. He said, in the past few years, the basic facilities for the pilgrims have seen tremendous improvement and the infrastructure development has eased the pilgrimage to Hazratbal, a revered spiritual center.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor called upon the people to ensure that we rid the society of elements aiding and abetting terrorists, bring the terror elements hiding among the public to justice and the infrastructure and other projects must be given a new impetus to meet the developmental needs of the people.
Paying homage to the innocent civilians killed by Pakistan-Sponsored Terrorists in Pahalgam, the Lieutenant Governor said, Operation Sindoor avenged Pahalgam terror attack by punishing terror state Pakistan and firmly enforced India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
He said, the brave soldiers of our armed forces have not only destroyed the terror factories deep inside Pakistan but have also drawn a new red line. Now any terror attack will be considered an 'act of war' and Pakistan will be given the harshest punishment for it, he further added.
“We need to strike hard at the terror ecosystem. The aides of terrorists should be identified and they should be given the same punishment as a terrorist for inflicting wounds on the soul of J&K. After the terror attack in Pahalgam, the kind of protests that were seen on the J&K's streets against the terrorist country Pakistan were historic. The valley echoed with slogans against terrorism,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor also called for collective efforts to foster the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and promote unity across the diverse communities. He said statements like the guests are spoiling the culture of J&K or demographic invasion are truly problematic and public should oppose such statements.
“I appeal to those in positions of responsibility in Jammu Kashmir to stop using the phrase like local and non-local. We all are Indians. Stop dividing Indians into local and outsiders. You should work to unite people so that a united society can take Jammu Kashmir to the greater heights of growth,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor prayed that Prophet Muhammad, Baba Amarnath may shower their blessings and strengthen the love, peace and brotherhood in the society.
