POONCH: The District Administration Poonch today said that all essential services, including healthcare and supplies are functioning smoothly and that the needs of residents are being met efficiently. “Hospitals across the district are fully operational with sufficient stocks of essential medicines and drugs. Ambulance services are readily available to ensure timely medical support. Banking services are functioning seamlessly, with all ATMs having sufficient cash to meet public needs” the District administration authorities said.
Regarding stock and supply position of essentials, the authorities said that, there is adequate availability of all necessary commodities in the district, including food grains, petrol, diesel, and LPG. “The supply chain is stable, and no shortages have been reported from any region” they added. It was further informed that the Power and Water Supply departments have successfully restored major supply lines. Regular electricity and clean drinking water are being provided, with prompt resumption of services in previously affected areas, the stakeholder officers said.
The Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal assured the public that the administration is fully committed to the welfare of the residents adding that the departments are working in close coordination to ensure uninterrupted support and assistance. Meanwhile, the Revenue authorities have started assessing damages and losses in the cross border shelling affected areas. “Based on these assessments, appropriate relief measures will be provided to support impacted families” the authorities assured.

TANGDHAR (KUPWARA),: As part of his continued outreach to border residents affected by cross-border shelling, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited Tangdhar in district Kupwara to assess the on-ground situation and interact with the affected families. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Trehgam Mir Saifullah, MLA Sogam Qaiser Jamshed Lone, MLA Karnah Javaid Mirchal, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan, Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani and other senior officials.
During the visit, the Chief Minister toured various villages in the Karnah border sub-division, including Tangdhar, Hajinard, Nachiyan, Shamspora, Baghbela, Batpora, and Tarboni. He took stock of the damage to residential structures and listened to the grievances of the affected residents.
Assuring support from the administration, he said: “The affected families have shown remarkable courage in the face of adversity. Their resilience is inspiring. The government stands shoulder to shoulder with them. Their pain will not go unnoticed, and every possible step will be taken to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and renewed hope.” He further emphasized that ensuring the safety, support, and swift rehabilitation of affected families remains government’s top priority.
The Chief Minister also visited Sub-District Hospital, Tangdhar, to review the availability and quality of healthcare services in the border area. He inspected key departments including Outpatient and Inpatient Units, Gynaecology, Operation Theatre, Ultrasonography, and X-Ray facilities. Interacting with the Chief Medical Officer, doctors, and staff, he directed them to work with utmost dedication and compassion to serve the people in this far-flung area.
He also spoke to patients and attendants to understand their concerns and degree of satisfaction with medical services. Speaking to the media, CM Omar Abdullah said he had come personally to assess the damages caused by shelling and reiterated that adequate help would be provided to the victims as part of relief and rehabilitation measures.
While inspecting community bunkers in Tangdhar, the Chief Minister acknowledged their critical role during crises. “These structures are a lifeline during times of escalation. We will ensure the construction of additional bunkers to safeguard our people living in vulnerable areas,” he said.
He further added that the construction of individual bunkers will be taken up with the Union Government to enhance the safety of border residents during periods of heightened tension. During the visit, the Chief Minister also inspected the Hydel Power Project at Gundi Shart, the progress of which had been affected due to recent hostilities. He assured that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeline.
Inspects Medical facilities, reviews bunker infrastructure and Civil Defence preparedness near LoC
RAJOURI: Chief Secretary, Atal Dullo, today visited Kalsian panchayat in Tehsil Nowshera, located near the Line of Control (LoC), where some houses have been damaged due to recent cross border shelling. During his visit, the Chief Secretary interacted with the affected residents and assured them of all possible support from the administration. He expressed solidarity with the people in this hour of distress and emphasized the government's commitment towards ensuring their safety and welfare.
Later, the Chief Secretary visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri where he met with the patients, including those injured in the shelling incident. He directed the Principal GMC to ensure best possible medical treatment is provided to all the patients. He reviewed the overall functioning of the institution.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the availability and condition of bunkers in the border areas. He directed the concerned officers to ensure the construction of new bunkers wherever needed. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high quality standards in all such works to safeguard the civilian lives. He also enquired about any challenges being faced by the district administration and assured necessary support from the higher authorities.
Commending the efforts of the district administration in managing the situation effectively, he lauded the swift and coordinated response to the recent shelling incidents. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, briefed the Chief Secretary on the district’s civil defence preparedness and detailed the status of all 12 essential services, including Warden Service, Rescue, Casualty, Firefighting, Transport, Survey Committee, Supply Services, Welfare, Headquarters, Communication, Disposal and Training Services was also reviewed.

JAMMU: In an outreach to the citizens affected by the recent shelling incidents in the border districts of the Jammu region, Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to enquire about the well-being of the injured admitted there. Expressing solidarity with the victims and their families, the Chief Secretary personally interacted with each of the injured patients, assessing their recovery by moving bed to bed and engaging in heartfelt conversations.
During the visit, Chief Secretary Dulloo also entered the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to check on the health status of two critically injured patients. He conveyed his deep concern for their recovery and encouraged the medical staff to prioritize the best possible treatment for all those affected.
Highlighting the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens, Dulloo directed the Principal of the College to ensure effective and timely medical care. He reassured the victims and their family members that the government stands firmly with them during these testing times, pledging full support towards their recovery and well-being.
He also appreciated the whole-hearted efforts of the medical staff and urged them to maintain the highest standards of care, emphasizing that every effort should be made to accelerate the recovery process. The Chief Secretary further emphasized that the administration remains vigilant and proactive in addressing the needs of those affected by such unfortunate incidents, reiterating that collective efforts are being made to minimize suffering besides expeditious recovery of all of these victims.
RAMBAN: In a move to assess and expedite restoration work on the crucial Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today visited the affected sites in district Ramban. The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary; Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Kulbir Singh and SSP Traffic National Highway, Raja Adil Hamid and PD NHAI Parshotam Singh.
Dulloo along with the team inspected various vulnerable and affected spots including Marog, Sita Ram Passi, Seri, Mehar, and Dalwas to review the extent of damage and ongoing restoration works. During the visit, he emphasized urgency of the situation and directed the executing agency to accelerate the pace of work to ensure early clearance of stranded vehicles and resumption of traffic on this critical route.
Acknowledging the plight of those stranded, the Chief Secretary instructed the district administration to extend all necessary support to the stranded passengers. He also called upon the traffic police to provide full cooperation to the executing agency, facilitating seamless restoration operations. Dulloo asked for prioritizing the movement of passenger vehicles and trucks carrying perishable goods once the road reopens. He highlighted the need for a coordinated approach to minimize inconvenience and mitigate the impact resulting from the disruption.
During the inspection, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned agencies, particularly the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), to expedite repair and restoration work ensuring uninterrupted vehicular movement. He emphasized the need for durable and time-bound solutions to address the recurring issue of landslides and road erosion in this vital corridor that connects Jammu with the Kashmir Valley.
Special focus was laid on the ongoing Four-Laning Project of NH-44 between Nashri and Banihal, which forms a key component of the J&K road infrastructure upgrade. The Chief Secretary took stock of the physical progress on the project and directed the executing agencies to strictly adhere to timelines, while ensuring quality and safety standards.
Highlighting the importance of seamless transportation, he instructed the NHAI officers to ensure proper double carriageways in all critical stretches of NH-44 to facilitate smooth and safe vehicular flow, especially given the highway’s strategic and economic significance.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, briefed the Chief Secretary about the losses incurred due to recent cloudbursts and flash floods, detailing the immediate response, restoration measures, and relief provided to affected families. He also outlined the District Administration’s preparedness and coordination mechanisms to tackle such natural calamities in the future.
