SRINAGAR: The Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to a tragic accident in Poonch today. In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor has said: "Pained by the loss of lives due to tragic road accident in Poonch. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for a speedy recovery of those injured in the accident".
JAMMU: The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, organized an expert lecture on the theme "Marketing of Information Products and Services" today. The lecture was organized under the guidance of Prof. Sangita Gupta, Head of the Department and Dean, Planning and Development. The session was delivered by Prof. Joginder Singh from the Department of Library and Information Science, Kurukshetra University, a distinguished academician and expert in the field.
Prof. Singh offered insightful perspectives on contemporary strategies and best practices for effectively marketing information products and services in a dynamic and competitive environment. He also addressed critical challenges such as barriers in communicating service value, revenue generation approaches, and innovative promotional techniques.
The lecture was both informative and engaging and concluded with an interactive Q&A session that encouraged meaningful dialogue between the speaker and participants. Prof. Sangita Gupta extended her gratitude Prof. Singh for his valuable contribution and for enhancing the academic enrichment of the students and scholars.
The lecture was attended by faculty members including Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh, Dr. Bindu Sharma, Mr. Ashwin Kushwaha, and Dr. Reenu Arti Thakur, along with research scholars and students. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ashwin Kushwaha.
JAMMU: Bioskool™, an innovative idea dedicated to hands-on biology education, was formally launched today by the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, Prof. Sanjeev Jain. The launch marks a significant step in making biology more accessible to school students, blending education with engaging, practical learning experiences. With a strong focus on inclusivity, Bioskool™ aims to provide multilingual educational resources and interactive experiments designed to inspire young minds.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Jain emphasized the importance of fostering scientific curiosity and hands-on experimentation among students. “Bioskool™ is a commendable initiative that bridges the gap between traditional learning and practical application, ensuring that students develop a deeper understanding of life sciences,” he stated. He also shared valuable insights and recommendations for enhancing Bioskool™'s website and products, offering constructive suggestions to further enrich the platform’s educational impact. The launch was done in the presence of Prof. Rakesh Jha, President Institution Innovation Council, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Head of the Department of Zoology, Dr. Narendra K. Bairwa, Head Centre for Molecular Biology.
Central University of Jammu, under the dynamic leadership of Vice chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain has taken several initiatives to promote entrepreneurship in Students and faculty alike. The implementation of National Innovation and Startup Policy 2019 of MHRD GoI through the Startup policy 2023 of CU Jammu, has been a phenomenal step in promoting entrepreneurial attitude in faculty and students.
In the interaction with the team, led by Prof. Swarkar Sharma, Department of Zoology and M.Sc Biotechnology students: Md. Tausir Alam, Anushka Dobhal, Yatendra Pawar, Tripti Kumari, Aman Kant and Aditri Dixit, the team further shared Bioskool™’s mission of making complex scientific concepts in biology approachable and engaging with their 100 unique biology experiments for classes 2 - 12. With its unique blend of creativity, inclusivity, and rigorous scientific protocols, Bioskool™ is set to make a lasting impact in the field of biology education. The team informed that for wider reachout, after the launch the products will be available online on their portal www.bioskool.in, as well as on various online e-commerce platforms as DIY (Do-IT-Yourself) kits.
SRINAGAR: In a landmark step towards enhancing safety and emergency preparedness across Kashmir’s vital tourist zones, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in collaboration with the Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) inaugurated three dedicated SDRF units at Nigeen Lake and Hazratbal Srinagar.The inauguration ceremony was held at Nigeen Lake and witnessed the formal launch of the 1st Battalion of the SDRF Nigeen unit.
The event was graced by several dignitaries including SP Hazratbal Hilal Khaliq Bhat, who formally inaugurated the units. He was joined by DySP SDRF Faisal Khan, DySP Traffic Suhail Reshi, SHO Nigeen Police Station Showkat Hussain, River Police Nigeen Incharge Bashir Ahmad, Vice President NTTA Qari Zahoor Ahmad, RTSOI Kashmir Chpater President, Peerzada Fayaz Ahmad, Shahmeem Ahmad Shah President TAFI ,Yaseen Tumaan Member NTTA, Dr. Touseef Bhat, and other prominent personalities from the community.These units are equipped with modern rescue boats and trained personnel to ensure swift response during emergencies—especially sudden weather changes, fire and other natural disasters that often impact the lake areas.
The initiative aims to bolster the region’s disaster preparedness, particularly in tourist-heavy zones like Nigeen and Hazratbal, where safety remains a growing concern for locals and visitors alike.While speaking to the media, NTTA Chairman Haji Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo said, "The establishment of the 1st Battalion of SDRF at Nigeen fulfills a long-standing and vital demand of the tourism stakeholders. We express our sincere thanks to the administration and SDRF for their prompt response and for recognising the pressing needs of the tourism community.
A special note of appreciation goes to Team NTTA, Team NLCO and all stakeholders—houseboat owners, shikarawalas and local residents—whose unwavering support turned this vision into reality. NTTA remains steadfast in its commitment to collaborate with the administration to promote safe, secure and sustainable tourism in Kashmir."Vice President NTTA Qari Zahoor Ahmad, while appreciating the efforts of SDRF and NTTA, remarked, "This initiative is not just about infrastructure—it reflects the collective will of the community to protect our people and our tourists. Safety must be the foundation of every tourism-related activity and today we have taken a big step in that direction."RTSOI Kashmir Chapter President Peerzada Fayaz Ahmad also shared his views, stating,
"The collaborative spirit shown here today proves what we can achieve when civil society, local traders and government agencies work hand-in-hand. These SDRF units will act as guardians of our lakes and reinforce confidence among tourists visiting our beautiful region."TAFI President Shahmeem Ahmad Shah said, “The boats which are being stationed at Nigeen and Hazratbal by the SDRF, along with the hard work and follow-up by the NTTA are truly commendable. This will be helpful in case of any emergency. We thank the SDRF and NTTA for their efforts.”Houseboat owner Yaseen Tumaan said,
“The deployment of SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) rescue teams at Nigeen Lake is a crucial step toward ensuring the safety of both tourists and locals, especially in light of climate change-induced extreme weather events.”The SDRF’s partnership with the NTTA, River Police Nigeen and the Nigeen Police Station has been hailed as a proactive model for other regions to follow. The inauguration sets a precedent for stronger disaster management frameworks in Kashmir’s tourist zones and highlights the importance of community-driven preparedness in the face of natural calamities.
NEW DELHI: A delegation from the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS) met P. T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, to discuss CNMS initiatives and invite her to deliver the Keynote Address at the upcoming National Seminar on Women-Led Development, scheduled for June 17–18, 2025, in Srinagar. The seminar will focus on empowering women and engaging youth in the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The delegation was led by CNMS Chairman Prof. Jasim Mohammad, along with Advisory Council Members Dr. Jawaid Rehmani and Prof. Divya Tanwar. Prof. Jasim Mohammad highlighted CNMS’s work in research, policy dialogue, and public awareness, emphasizing the need to involve youth in building a self-reliant and progressive India. He described P. T. Usha as a symbol of strength and leadership, whose life and thoughts will inspire young Indians to actively contribute to national development.
Member of Parliament P.T. Usha appreciated CNMS’s efforts and agreed that youth engagement is key to India’s future. She warmly accepted the invitation to speak at the seminar, stating, “It is heartening to see an institution like CNMS working with such passion to bring change. I’m happy to support your Mission & Vision.”
