SRINAGAR: In a significant achievement, Cyber Cell of J&K Police saved ₹84,484/- after receiving a complaint regarding online financial fraud in Kupwara. On receiving the complaint, initial investigation was taken up which revealed that the fraud was done using fake WhatsApp call. The investigation also revealed that the victim was asked to submit school fee via PhonePay, after following the directions from the fraudster.
Using cyber tactics, Cyber Cell Kupwara successfully blocked the transactions and the amount was put on hold and saved this whole amount. Cyber Cell of J&K Police urges general public to stay vigilant against online fake trading, avoid clicking on suspicious links, Fake SMS credit Messages, refrain from installing unauthorized Apps, avoiding to pick any video call from unknown numbers and be cautious while sharing personal information online. If you encounter any such suspicious activity, report immediately to the National Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 or www.cybercrime.gov.in.
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha launched the ‘Hausla 2.0’ and JK Startup Portal at Srinagar, today. Building on the success of the Hausla 1.0, the inaugural batch, Hausla 2.0 seeks to enhance financial inclusion among women in Jammu Kashmir by promoting entrepreneurship and facilitating market access.
In his address, the Lt Governor congratulated and extended his best wishes to the women and young startup entrepreneurs on the occasion. He said the prime objective of Hausla program is to harness the entrepreneurial potential of women in J&K UT, increase financial access and market reach for women entrepreneurs and to create a nurturing ecosystem for women's economic empowerment.
“We want women entrepreneurs of J&K UT to build global brands and fortunes through their own hard work and strong drive. Our focus is women-led development and dedicated efforts have been made for women's economic participation to boost economic growth,” the Lt Governor said. The overarching goal is to establish a sustainable enterprise model that contributes to employment generation and economic growth, he added.
Reiterating the UT Administration’s resolve to promote entrepreneurship and startups in J&K, under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Lt Governor said the endeavours like Startup Policy is a testimony to our commitment to provide necessary support and resources to the youth to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality.
“The new JK Startup portal will ensure the seamless execution of the Startup Policy. The portal will streamline the application process for various support mechanisms viz. seed funding, mentoring, startup awards and claiming infrastructure benefits for development of incubators/incubation facilities,” the Lt Governor said.
The Lt Governor also commended the JKTPO, JKEDI, J&K Bank and other stakeholders for their significant contribution in empowering the women and young entrepreneurs of the UT. To support the startup ecosystem and promote innovation in the region, JKEDI has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with five higher educational institutions.
The Lt Governor said the MoUs will help the students enhance their skills and knowledge with entrepreneurship, innovation and startups. Speaking on J&K’s exceptional journey towards peace, progress and prosperity, the Lt Governor called upon the people to stand united in the fight against the divisive forces trying to disturb peace in Jammu region.
The Administration and our Security Forces will never allow adversary’s nefarious design to succeed. We will eliminate the terrorists and root out terrorism and its supporters from J&K, he said. On the occasion, women entrepreneurs associated with Hausla 1.0. shared their success stories. They also expressed gratitude to the Lt Governor led UT Administration for providing necessary support and guidance for their business ventures.
Hausla 1.0 programme has successfully trained 118 women entrepreneurs, expanded networks, facilitated participation in national exhibitions, and increased market reach. Under Hausla 2.0, JKEDI will ensure quality training sessions at the district level to the selected 400 women entrepreneurs from Jammu Kashmir. This decentralized approach will ensure broader regional participation and cater to women from various sectors, it was informed.

DODA: Addressing a public rally here today before holding a general “Public Durbar” lasting over three hours, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh reaffirmed the revival of Village Defence Guards (VDGs). “The security agencies have a strategy in place to control the security situation in district Doda and its adjoining areas in view of the recent incidents of terror, but such strategies are not discussed in public”, said Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here today.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that Village Defence Guards (VDGs) are being revived in the militancy-infested areas with an objective to empower them to fight terrorists. “The government has also decided that if and wherever needed, VDGs will be deployed as part of the multi-pronged strategy to confront the challenge posed by terrorists'“, he further informed. He also announced that weapons, including SLR rifles, may be provided to the VDGs so that they can negotiate the challenge effectively.
The Minister made a fervent appeal to all the communities to put up a united front against terrorism. He recalled that Doda did not succumb to terrorism even during the 1990s when it was at its peak. “As inhabitants faced the menace tooth and nail, they were successful in preventing migration of the people from here”, the Minister highlighted.
Talking about infrastructure development of Doda, Dr Jitendra Singh stated that in the last ten years of the government, a network of highways has been created in order to improve connectivity to remote areas, reduce travel time and enhance passengers’ comfort.
“When completed, the strategically important Lakhanpur-Basohli-Bani- Bhaderwah-Doda National Highway will reduce distance on this route by more than 100 Kilometres”, he said, adding that this will also create job opportunities for the local youth and boost tourism in the area. In the same way, the all-weather under-construction Khellani Tunnel will cut travelling time for the inhabitants of the districts of Doda and Kishtwar both to Srinagar and Jammu, Dr Singh said.
The Union Minister stated that the government has been working tirelessly to ensure equitable development of all regions of Jammu and Kashmir. “Modi government overcome the shortcomings of the previous regime and completed the unfinished and delayed infrastructure projects in J&K”, he underlined. The Minister also emphasised that the government provided LPG connections and built houses under PM AWAS, without taking into consideration caste, creed or religion of beneficiaries, as it is driven by the motto of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.
Dr Jitendra Singh stressed the need to create awareness about welfare schemes of the government. “Workshops should be organised to make the youth and their parents aware about the benefits of various welfare schemes”, he urged the local administration. Later, the Union Minister held a “Public Durbar’ lasting over three hours in which the district administration led by the Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh was present for on-the- spot redressal of people’s issues.
During the Public Durbar, issues of public interest also came up, with the local people raising their demands and seeking redressal of their grievances. After listening to the people’s demands, Dr Jitendra Singh instructed the administration to ensure speedy and timely resolution of matters of public concern. He directed that all possible measures must be taken to improve the delivery of public services in a time-bound manner.
ANANTNAG: In a significant move aimed at to promote safe sanitation practices during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, a captivating Nukkad Natak show was performed today at the Nunwan Basecamp. The event aimed to educate and engage pilgrims on the importance of maintaining hygiene throughout their sacred journey.
The Nukkad Natak, a traditional street play, was strategically chosen for its impactful and direct communication style. The performers skillfully conveyed critical messages about proper sanitation practices, waste disposal, personal hygiene and also disseminated message for public participation in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
Through lively performances and engaging storytelling, the audience was reminded of their role in preserving the cleanliness and sanctity of the yatra route. Director General Rural Sanitation, Anoo Malhotra emphasized the significance of such initiatives. She said Nukkad Natak is an excellent medium to reach out to a large number of pilgrims in an engaging and effective manner. Our goal is to ensure that every yatri is well-informed about safe sanitation practices, contributing to a cleaner and safer pilgrimage experience, added Malhotra.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra attracts thousands of devotees each year, making sanitation and hygiene critical components for the health and safety of all participants. The Nukkad Natak show is part of a broader campaign to enhance awareness and encourage responsible behavior among pilgrims.
The event was well-received by the audience, who appreciated the informative yet entertaining format. Many expressed their commitment to adhering to the sanitation guidelines and spreading the message further among fellow pilgrims. Camp Director Nunwan Basecamp, Vikas Gupta lauded the efforts of Directorate of Rural Sanitation, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj J&K for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene despite huge footfall of Yatris, Community Kitchen operators, and other services providers.
As the yatra progresses, additional educational and awareness activities will be conducted to reinforce the importance of hygiene and sanitation. These efforts align with the broader mission of Swachh Bharat and aim to make the yatra a model of cleanliness and environmental sustainability. Notably, an awareness session on 'Stop Diarrhea Campaign' was also held by Vinay Tiwari, PMU head to sensitize the devotees and services providers.
The event concluded with a special session on Basic Life Support (BLS) as an initial response to any medical emergency by trainers of Fire and Emergency Development. Others present on the occasion were Vikas Gupta, Camp Director Nunwan, Security Incharge SSP Kulbir Singh, ACP Anantnag Zaheer Abas Bhat, and other senior officers.
JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu continued its comprehensive Orientation Program for the 5th Batch of Ph.D. (2024-28), the 3rd Batch of Ph.D. (WP) (2024-28), the 9th Batch of MBA (2024-26), the 3rd Batch of MBA (HA&HM) (2024-26), and the 4th Batch of EMBA (2024-26), with a series of engaging and insightful sessions on the fourth day.
These activities were meticulously designed to enhance mindfulness, provide industry insights, and foster a strong sense of community among the new students. The day's program commenced with a session titled ‘Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness,’ conducted by esteemed Yoga Guru Shri Sahil Mehra and coordinated by Team Anandam at IIM Jammu; this session set a positive and mindful tone for the day ahead.
Following the yoga session, Shri Anshul Garg, CEO of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, delivered an enlightening talk on the ‘Temple Economy.’ He highlighted a significant achievement, noting, "We are the first to put underground cables in Jammu and Kashmir, a project worth 86 Cr." Emphasizing the importance of giving back to society, he remarked, "It's our duty to give it back to society; that's where welfare economics comes into the picture." Coordinated by Dr. Kulwinder Kaur and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Tarei, this session offered unique insights into the economic aspects of temple management. Group B then participated in outbound activities organized by the Office of Student Affairs to promote teamwork and camaraderie among the students. Simultaneously, Group A attended sessions by industry speakers.
Mr. Deven Kanade, Director of Industry Solutions at Oracle, discussed ‘Consulting Sales,’ emphasizing the importance of finding a purpose in life to achieve goals and understanding problems to create better solutions. He stressed that the motive of an advertisement should be to reach the right audience at the right time and place, advising participants to "look for solutions, not just innovations." Meanwhile, Ms. Kavita Kurup, Global Head, Human Resources and Corporate Communication, IIM Jammu, spoke on ‘Navigating Mergers and Acquisitions: HR’s Role in Ensuring Success,’ encouraging resilience by saying, "If something doesn’t work out for you, don’t be disheartened; there is something big waiting for you at the end." She added, "Don't worry about small things. They always keep coming," highlighting that "impact is not built by your tenure in the organization but by your work." Dr. Sudeep Das and Dr. Naveen Goyal, faculty, IIM Jammu coordinated these sessions.
Group A continued with a session on ‘Campus to Corporate and Evolution of HR,’ presented by Ms. Dipti Naidu, Manager, HR Business Partner at Mastercard Technology Private Limited. Coordinated by Dr. Eshika Aggarwal and Dr. P. Praveen Vijay Raj, faculty, IIM Jammu, the session emphasized the importance of creating visibility in the right places and the necessity of upskilling for both employees and organizations. She encouraged participants to be authentic and confident, reassuring them that organizations would want to hire them. She also advised attendees to be ready to upskill themselves to navigate their careers successfully
In the afternoon, various MBA sections participated in ‘Teaching through Case’ sessions led by faculty members ranging from Dr. Nitin Upadhyay (MBA Section A), Dr. Ateeque Shaikh (MBA Section B), Dr. Niti Shekhar (MBA Section C), Dr. Mahesh Gadekar (MBA Section D), and Dr. Parvathy B. (MBA (HA&HM)).
Following these sessions, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, Secretary at the Federation for World Academics (FWA) and Founder & Facilitator of Education Post, addressed the students. He shared his journey of establishing a publication in the niche segment of education, overcoming numerous challenges to transition his newspaper into a successful magazine. Shri Sharma initiated the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) rankings, which significantly enhanced his company's profile and consultancy achievements. He highlighted how the IIRF ranking has created numerous opportunities, emphasizing that the sky is the limit. He underscored the importance of networking for achieving success and elaborated on the Federation for World Academics, a robust network of academicians and industry professionals dedicated to promoting collaboration and growth. This session, coordinated by the Accreditation Team and Dr. V. Raj Kumar, provided students with valuable insights into academic and professional development.
Following this discussion, Mehul Oza, Vice President – HR at NSE, delivered a session titled "Charting a Path in HR: My Journey and Key Lessons Learned." He emphasized how integrating AI with HRM has enhanced recruitment efficiency and candidate retention. Oza highlighted the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and strategic thinking in HR, covering areas such as talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organizational development. He discussed leveraging technology and data analytics to improve HR processes and shared career anecdotes that underscored effective communication, leadership, and fostering a positive culture. Coordinated by Dr. Malay Ranjan Mohapatra and Dr. Guangpuanang Kahmei, faculty, IIM Jammu the session included an interactive Q&A, providing students with practical insights and advice from a seasoned HR professional.
Subsequently, Mr. Dinesh Pandey from the Leadership Team of Founder’s Office, Mu Sigma, engaged the students in a dynamic session coordinated by Dr. Prakrit Silal and Dr. Gaana J, faculty, IIM Jammu. He emphasized that AI focuses on accuracy, robustness, and problem-solving but cannot predict the future. Highlighting the Ayushman Bharat program as a successful initiative, he encouraged students to innovate and develop new solutions. He stressed the importance of addressing stakeholders' needs and solving problems effectively. He urged students to utilize technology tools such as Power-based SaaS, AI, and Python to enhance their efficiency and work outcomes.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, encouraged students to take pride in their institute, reflecting on its journey from 47 students in the old transit campus to 1000 students and consistently achieving the 15th position among IIMs for two years. He invited suggestions from the new batch of students on branding IIM Jammu as the finest institute globally and stressed that there will be no compromise in academics, urging sincere effort and active participation in all events. He also narrated the success of reposting a video of the Nalanda Library, which garnered 1,90,000 impressions despite his own follower count being 20,000. He credited this learning to his daughter, thereby emphasizing social media as an effective tool for elevating the institute's brand. Further during his address, he highlighted the mandate for each student to plant 10 trees, contributing to 10,000 trees to offset the 16,000 trees cut during construction. Emphasizing the institute's no-VIP culture and design, which promotes fitness through a 6 km daily walk, he underscored the importance of multitasking in daily life. The institute will soon recognize students contributing to its growth by converting their efforts into grades, to be incorporated shortly. "Your dedication will shape IIM Jammu's future as you are the brand ambassadors of this institute," he asserted. "Create a conducive environment, as this is your own institute—make it a great place."
This was followed by a vibrant cultural program performed by first-year students, coordinated by the Office of Student Affairs. The eventful day concluded with a dinner, providing an opportunity for new students to relax and connect with their peers and faculty members in an informal setting.
