BANDIPORA: The valley of Gurez, known for its breathtaking landscape, balmy climate, and mesmerizing scenery, is witnessing a huge rush of tourists these days, which include both local as well as non-local tourists. In view of the large tourist influx, the District Administration, Bandipora launched a dedicated cleanliness campaign and constituted teams to monitor cleanliness campaigns and to enforce cleanliness standards effectively.
As per order issued by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman, different teams of officials from different departments have been constituted to ensure implementation of prohibition on entry, sale, and carrying of polythene bags in sub division Gurez. The teams shall monitor overall cleanliness/violation in their respective jurisdiction under the supervision of Tehsildar concerned, reads an order.
Pertinent to mention that, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora issued an order on 28th May 2024, prohibiting entry, sale and carrying of Polythene bags in Sub Division Gurez. An order reads that, In the interest of conservation of ecology and environment of Gurez Valley, and as part of eco-tourism and sustainable tourism measures, I shakeel ul Rehman, District Magistrate Bandipora do hereby order that there shall be complete prohibition on entry, sale and carrying of polythene bags in sub-division Gurez
The DC said that the move is aimed to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents and visitors. He said that the surge in tourist influx to Gurez valley makes it even more critical to maintain our valley's cleanliness. In his message, the DC urged all residents and visitors to not litter and join this noble endeavor to make Gurez Valley a pristine and sustainable destination and cooperate with the administration in preserving the pristine beauty of Gurez.
In another order issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurez, the administration has imposed a ban on the installation of temporary tents by tourists and visitors for overnight stays in the area, which was earlier permitted. This measure is part of efforts to manage the environmental impact of increased tourism and to preserve the natural habitat of Gurez Valley.
In addition, the District Administration has taken several measures to ensure that no ecological harm touches Gurez. Teams from the Rural Development Department are actively engaged in collecting waste from permitted tenting sites, home stays and other localities in the scenic Gurez Valley to ensure environmental sustainability and cleanliness in the region amidst growing tourist activities.
KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today chaired a meeting, here to review the formulation of GIS based Master plan for Kupwara town 2023-2043. At the outset, the DC meticulously reviewed the boundaries of local planning area including MC area and revenue villages of Kupwara Master Plan which have a proposed local planning area of 147 Sq.Kms.
The DC directed the concerned agency to rework on the boundaries so that town planning is result-oriented and inclusive. She asked the CPO Kupwara to coordinate with concerned line departments so that secondary data to the agency is provided at an earliest.
On the occasion, Ayushi said that GIS based Master Plan is a comprehensive planning strategy that utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, which improves decision making by providing planners with spatial insights and holistic view of the town’s dynamics, facilitating sustainable and efficient urban development.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Gulzar Ahmed Bhat; ADC Handwara, Aziz Ahmed Rather; ACR, ACD, Assistant Town Planner Kashmir, Consultant, KSS-ISPER, Executive Engineers, Tehsildars, BDOs, CEO MC Kupwara and other stakeholders.
KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today chaired a meeting of the concerned Officers at Mini-Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex, here to discuss finalization of rates for compensation to the rightful owners whose land has been acquired for construction/ improvement of Newly NH-701 RKCTC (Rafiabad-Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tangdar-Chamkote National Highway.
During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held regarding construction of the National Highway, submission of pending 3G awards, finalization of rates and compensation for residential, commercial and agricultural land to the owners.
The DC directed the concerned Officers to expedite the process so that the project is started well in time. She said that the NH-701 project is a vital initiative which will enhance connectivity, facilitate smoother and faster travel for residents and foster economic growth in the district.
Among others, ACR Kupwara, Pirzada Mumtaz, SDM Lolab, Javed Naseem Masoodi, OC 109 RCC Beacon, Lt. Col. C.N Ghosh, Tehsildars, Executive Officer MC Kupwara, and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
DODA: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh today convened a meeting to discuss arrangements for the upcoming celebration of Independence Day, 2024 at the Conference Hall DC office. The meeting was attended by SSP Doda, Javaid Iqbal, ADDC, Pran Singh, ADC, Sudershan Kumar, ACR, Sunil Bhutyal, PO ICDS, Paramjeet Singh, ACD, Manoj Kumar, ACP, Musharaf Ali Haif, AO DC Office Doda, Sameer ul Rehman besides officers from line departments.
It was discussed that the main function will be held at the Doda Sports Stadium. The event will commence with the unfurling of the national flag by the chief guest, followed by a March Past featuring contingents from District Police, CRPF, NCC and students from government and private educational institutions. In addition to the parade, school children will present cultural programs showcasing the rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the DC directed all the concerned departments to ensure that all arrangements are made well in time. He directed the School Education Department to arrange participants for the cultural programme. Emphasizing the significance of Independence Day 2024, the DC underscored the need for meticulous planning and coordination to ensure a memorable and impactful celebration. He urged all stakeholders to contribute their ideas and efforts to make the event a resounding success.
Regarding illumination of offices and public properties, the DC directed the Executive Engineer PDD to illuminate the government offices, markets, road bridges and public places in the district. The arrangements for water and power supply, parking, first aid, sanitation, security, Public Address System, Fire tenders, decoration of stage, seating arrangements besides arrangement of Mementos and refreshments were discussed in detail.
The Independence Day celebration will commence with the soulful Shehnai Vadan performed by the District Information Centre Doda. The DC gave directions to the concerned officers to maintain cleanliness in and around the venue. He also directed for the arrangement of Health facilities and better traffic management. The DC highlighted that the celebration of Independence Day 2024 holds great importance as it symbolizes the unity, diversity, and freedom of the nation.
RAMBAN: As per NALSA’s annual calendar of activities for the year 2024, the District Legal Services Authority Ramban under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority today conducted the 2nd meeting of the Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) at District Court Complex, Ramban.
The meeting was held in order to expedite the identification and review of prisoners belonging to district Ramban, who are lodged in district Jail Udhampur and are eligible to be considered for release as well as to accelerate the regular functioning of the committee and review the state of all eligible under-trial prisoners (UTPs).
The meeting was chaired by Chairman (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Ranbir Singh Jasrotia, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ramban, along with other members of the Under Trial Review Committee.
The committee reviewed the cases of the eligible UTPs shortlisted by the Secretary (Sub-Judge), District Legal Services Authority, Ramban, Anjana Rajput. The committee took up and discussed 09-cases, however, only one case was recommended for early release.
Along with the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ramban, the meeting was attended by Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Ramban Anjana Rajput, Additional Deputy Commissioner; Ramban Varunjeet Charak, and Additional Superintendent of Police, Ramban Gourav Mahajan.
