JAMMU: The cadets of 2 J&K Girls Bn NCC of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt College for Women Gandhinagar Jammu celebrated NAVARAMB 2024 with a splendid farewell and rank ceremony, bidding adieu to their outgoing seniors while gearing up to shoulder new responsibilities. The event was marked by a grand Rank Ceremony, where cadets took an oath to uphold the prestige of their Unit.
The day commenced with a ceremonial welcome for Col Muneesh Jasrotia, Commanding Officer of 2 J&K Girls Bn NCC Jammu. The cadets presented a prestigious Guard of Honor, followed by a soulful rendition of Ganesh Vandana, setting a formal and auspicious tone for the day.
In a vibrant display of talent and enthusiasm, cadets delivered heart-throbbing performances, showcasing their skills and dedication. Amidst this lively atmosphere, the Rank Ceremony took center stage. New ranks were bestowed upon deserving cadets, symbolizing their readiness to lead with responsibility and honor. The newly appointed leaders took an oath to uphold the unit's name and legacy, marking a significant milestone in their NCC journey.
The ceremony also included the felicitation of TSC (Thal Sainik Camp) and RDC (Republic Day Camp) holders among the seniors. These accolades served as a source of inspiration for the junior cadets, motivating them to follow in the footsteps of their accomplished predecessors.
In a gesture of appreciation, souvenirs were presented to Col Muneesh Jasrotia and Dr. S.P. Sarawat for their benign presence and unwavering support. Their attendance and encouragement significantly boosted the morale of the cadets and ANOs Lt. Suman Bala & Lt. Rachna Devi reinforcing the unit's ethos of camaraderie and dedication.
The programme culminated with an inspiring speech by Col Muneesh Jasrotia, who shared motivational words and extended his best wishes to the outgoing NCC cadets. His address emphasized the importance of discipline, perseverance, and leadership, leaving a lasting impression on the young cadets.
SRINAGAR: Police in Baramulla launched a comprehensive drive to tackle persistent traffic violations, which have resulted in numerous accidents and casualties in recent months. The focus was on triple riding, driving without helmets, and rash & negligent driving.
During the drive, Baramulla Police seized several two-wheelers involved in triple riding and helmetless riding in the area. Violators were booked, and cases were registered under relevant sections of law at concerned Police Stations and investigations are underway. This drive aims to curb traffic violations, ensure road safety for law-abiding citizens, and serve as a deterrent to future violators.
SRINAGAR: IGP Kashmir Zone Shri V.K Birdi chaired a security review meeting at PCR Kashmir which was attended by DIG CID Srinagar, DD IB Srinagar, DIG SSB Kashmir, DIG Armed Kashmir, DIsG of Kashmir Zone Police, DIsG of CRPF South, North & Ops Sector Srinagar, DIG BSF Panthachowk & DIG ITBP Kashmir participated. The meeting was also attended by DC SB Srinagar, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic Rural & City, SSP CID CIK, SSP APCR Srinagar, SSP Security Kashmir, SSP PCR Kashmir, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone and other officers.
The meeting focused on various security arrangements put in place for upcoming Muharram during which a large number of religious processions are expected to be taken in various parts of the valley. The security measures related to challenges in the management of mourning processions, crowd control, traffic regulation and maintenance of law & order during the period were also discussed.
IGP Kashmir directed the officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements to ensure peaceful conduct of the events. He also directed the officers to increase surveillance upon ANEs and mischief mongers and also increase vigil during night processions. He also advised the officers to visit Imambargahs and Mosques to review the security arrangements and conduct coordination meetings with both Sunni & Shia community members. IGP Kashmir stressed for engagement with the Shia community leaders and members, seeking their cooperation for safe and peaceful conduct of all the events. He also directed the district heads to devise comprehensive security strategies and route plans in their respective districts so as to prevent any untoward event.
Lastly, the officers also briefed IGP Kashmir regarding the ongoing SANJY and its status. IGP Kashmir Zone directed the officers to ensure that cut-off timings are strictly adhered so as to ensure safety of pilgrims during their movement. IGP Kashmir Zone directed the officers to remain alert & maintain continued vigil during the movement of devotees to ensure safe & incident free yatra.
SRINAGAR: Mission Director, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project in J&K (JKCIP), Yasha Mudgal, conducted a comprehensive review of six pivotal projects of HADP at SKICC here today.
The meeting was attended by the project grounding and monitoring committees of the respective projects including Director Agriculture Jammu/Kashmir, Director Floriculture Kashmir, Agrostologist Kashmir, and representatives from SKUAST Jammu and SKUAST Kashmir while Jammu based officers participated virtually.
The reviewed projects, selected for their multi-stakeholder involvement, included Seed & Seed Multiplication Development Chain, Farm Mechanization, Innovative Approaches in Agriculture Extension, Rainfed Area Development (RAD), Promotion of Floriculture, and Fodder Development in J&K.
The Mission Director assessed the performance of each project, emphasizing the need to expedite establishment of various project activities. Key issues were addressed during the meetings, with immediate directives issued for their resolution.
Yasha Mudgal emphasized that in light of launch of the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan III, there must be focused attention on the extension and outreach of HADP and JKCIP project activities. This ensures that intending beneficiaries across the length and breadth of J&K, including the remotest areas, are aware of the activities under both ambitious projects of the J&K Government.
Under the Rainfed Area Development project, the Mission Director reiterated the need to focus on interventions specifically designed to enhance rainfed area development, emphasizing that presentations must clearly reflect these targeted activities. For the Extension project, prioritization of establishing Kisan Khidmat Ghars (KKGs) as previously directed was highlighted.
Regarding the Fodder Development project, the Mission Director termed the involvement of Forest Department as crucial. She asked all stakeholder departments to collaborate and provide a prioritized action plan. She directed both Directors of Floriculture to review the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and suggest improvements for project implementation.
The review concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to expedite project activities and ensure effective collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the HADP and JKCIP.
BARAMULLA: In a bold move to enhance road safety, Baramulla district has ramped up its enforcement against traffic violators, collecting an impressive Rs 3.65 lakh in fines over the past ten days. Spearheaded by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Muazzam Ali, these ongoing efforts aim to instill a culture of compliance and safety among drivers.
Key achievements of the enforcement drive include the seizure of 12 cabs and 8 motorcycles, issuance of 296 challans to traffic offenders, realization of Rs 3.65 lakh in penalties, distribution of showcause notices to over 50 drivers for potential suspension of their licenses, and the suspension of 20 driving licenses to date.
These rigorous checks have taken place across Sopore, Baramulla, and Tangmarg towns, as well as along the National Highway near Tapper Pattan. ARTO Muazzam Ali has assured that this campaign, driven by the directives of senior officers in the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), will continue in other towns such as Uri and Rafiabad in the coming days."Recent months have seen tragic losses due to road accidents. Our mission is to prevent such incidents by ensuring every driver follows traffic rules. Motorcyclists must wear helmets and drive cautiously," stated ARTO Muazzam Ali.
