SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat Friday convened a meeting to take review of the Tribal and Heritage plans in the district. The meeting reviewed ongoing and new proposals under 02 schemes Tribal and Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage.
Dr Bilal impressed upon the executing agencies including representative of Archives, Archaeology and Museum Department to ensure completion of the ongoing works in a time bound manner. The DC directed the department of Archives, Archaeology and Museum to technically vet the DPR which are pending since more than 03 months and forward the same to this Office for further necessary action.
The DC further instructed the executing agencies to prepare the DPR’s of various already heritage sites within the shortest possible time. Among others, the meeting was attended by officers and officials from department of Archives, Archaeology and Museum besides from other concerned departments.
SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today held a meeting with senior functionaries of civil administration and Police department to take stock of the arrangements being made for the Independence Day celebration across the UT.
Present in the meeting were DG, Police, Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, Director, Information, Director, School Education, Jammu/Kashmir, Director Health, Jammu/Kashmir and representatives from security agencies. The Chief Secretary took appraisal from the concerned about the selection of venues at Jammu and Srinagar besides in districts. He also enquired about the contingents participating in the main events to be held at Jammu and Srinagar.
Dulloo asked about the cultural performances to be presented during the national celebrations. He exhorted for selection of high impact cultural items by respective divisional committees giving preference to the students for their encouragement. He emphasised that no repetition of similar performances should be made so that the events are concluded as per the already framed schedule and time.
The Chief Secretary stressed on meticulous management of traffic on roads so that the participants reach venues without facing any difficulties. He also asked the concerned divisional and district administrations to take adequate measures to deal with the adverse weather conditions. He impressed upon them to ensure safety measures especially for the student participants.
The Chief Secretary impressed upon the concerned to ensure better sanitation, power supply and availability of drinking water facilities at all the locations. He asked for inviting the former PRI members, members of women Self Help Groups and other prominent citizens in the events.
He enjoined upon the concerned divisional/district authorities to take stock of arrangements in their respective jurisdictions to ensure that the events right upto panchayat level are held in a manner befitting to this national carnival. Dulloo impressed upon the Information Department to check the functionality of Public Address System (PAS) beforehand. He asked them to have proper back ups available to avoid any hinderance in the celebrations.
The Chief Secretary impressed upon all the HoDs, divisional heads and DCs to illuminate the major public infrastructure including their offices, major bridges and other prominent places for the event. On the occasion, it was revealed that a total of 21 contingents including 6 student contingents and a lady contingent is going to participate in the two main events at Jammu and Srinagar.
In addition, the concerned presented the details of preparations being made by them regarding sanitation, medical, water and power availability. It was revealed that the full dress and other rehearsals would be conducted from 29th of July in order to provide adequate time of preparation to the participants going to perform in the 77th Independence Day to be celebrated in the UT.
SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a meeting at DC Office Complex, here to review all required arrangements that are put in place for the seamless conduct of all Muharram-ul-Haram related rituals.
SSP Traffic, SSP Security, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, RTO Kashmir, Superintendent KPDCL, Joint Commissioner SMC, Deputy Director Information (PR) Kashmir, besides officers and officials from PHE, Health, Road Transport Corporation, SMC and other departments.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on sanitation, mobile toilets, medical, potable drinking water, transport and other facilities was held wherein it was given out that special arrangements have been made for its observance. The DC stressed upon the concerned officers to make adequate arrangements with regard to amenities including, mobile toilets, water tankers, medical camps and ambulance services besides transport facilities.
The DC directed the Municipal authorities to ensure sanitation of all the vital locations. He directed the health authorities to make adequate arrangements in this regard including teams of doctors to facilitate mourners. It was impressed upon the officers to work in coordination and make a viable mechanism so that the mourner's may not face any inconvenience during religious congregations and processions.
JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, in collaboration with the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce (DICCI), concluded the valedictory ceremony for the sixth batch of the Capacity Building Program on Small Business Development Units (SBDUs). The ceremony took place at the Bharat Classroom, IIM Jammu Jagti Campus, on 12th July 2024, marking a new chapter in entrepreneurial empowerment.
The fifth batch which comprised of 39 participants from various parts of the country, including individuals from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. During the ceremony, participants shared their experiences, highlighting the transformative impact of the program on their entrepreneurial journeys.
Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Program Director, SBDU, IIM Jammu, expressed that the program has been a wonderful journey filled with new learnings and constructive discussions. He highlighted that this marks the beginning of a new journey and emphasized that new elements will be incorporated into upcoming programs to stay in tune with the times. As always advocated by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, he urged everyone to think beyond the skies.
Dr. Mahesh Gadekar, Chairperson, Centre for Small Business Development, and Program Director, IIM Jammu expressed his hope for all participants to grow and prosper. He emphasized that the nation has high expectations and stressed the importance of participants developing their start-ups, creating jobs, employing people, and contributing to strengthening the Indian economy and nation-building.
Among the notable attendees were Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), Centre for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, IIM Jammu; and Shri Naren Karunakaran, Consultant, Centre for Diversity and Inclusion, IIM Jammu, including officers and staff of IIM Jammu.
The ceremony included the distribution of certificates, followed by the rendition of the national anthem, symbolizing unity and collective aspirations. The event was coordinated by the Small Business Development Unit Team, IIM Jammu.

JAMMU: Motor Vehicles Department today warned the Auto/e-Rickshaw drivers of punitive action if they overcharge commuters and refuse to ply as per notified fare and functional fare meter. During the drive, enforcement wing informed the drivers that the department would come down hard on errant auto drivers if any such violations found on ground, which might also lead to cancellation of RCs of their vehicles or even cancellation of their Driving Licenses.
The department has carried out regular such drives on the special directions of Higher Authorities, after receiving series of complaints regarding overcharging during ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Speaking on the occasion Regional Transport Officer Jammu, Pankaj Bhagotra said "We are determined to regulate plying of auto/e- rickshaw. Department will take action against those drivers who refuse to ply by the Fare Meter besides refusal to ply or misbehaving with commuters will also attract penalty as per license condition. He further added that Department is determined/committed to bring discipline on the roads so the auto/e-Rickshaw drivers are also directed to be courteous with commuters," he said.
The officials of enforcement wing of transport department will ensure that auto/e-Rickshaws ply their vehicles as per guidelines issued by Transport Department particularly regarding Fare. In this regard the enforcement wing is keeping a close vigil as per Order issued by higher authorities of Transport department vide No.78-TC of 2024 under endorsement No. TCJK-ESTB/2024/2301-3I J&K regarding the Fare to be charged from commuters for e-Rickshaws during ongoing Shri Amaranth Ji Yatra for the convenience of the yatries.
The enforcement Drive was carried out under the direct supervision of RTO Jammu, Pankaj Bhagotra at different locations viz Bhagwat Nagar, Tawi 4th Bridge, Near Railway Station & Zorawar Chowk. As many as 260 vehicles were checked during the drive out of which 97 Auto/e-Rikshaws were e-challaned for offences pertaining to overcharging, overloading and deficiency of documents. One e-Rikshaw was seized for being plied by an underage driver and handed over to In-Charge Police Post Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. The other team members comprised of ARTO (HQr) Rehana Tabassam, MVIs Vikas Srivats & Jagandeep Singh and MVTA Tarunjot Singh.
