SRINAGAR: Director Employment, Nisar Ahmad Wani inaugurated a computer lab today established under MCC and equipped with internet facilities at District Employment and Counselling Centre, Budgam. Deputy Director Employment Dr. Sheeba Inayat, Employment Officer, Career Counseling Officer and other officers were present at the occasion.
The lab aims to provide free access to youth for various job opportunities in different sectors. Additionally, youth would receive guidance and free counselling about these opportunities at DECC Budgam. On the occasion, Dir Employment J&K also distributed certificates among the trainees who were benefited from the skill training course conducted by DECC Budgam.
He emphasized on benefits of Self Employment and directed the officials to expand their reach across the District and counsel the youth to avail benefits under different Self Employment Schemes
RAMBAN: Social Welfare Department, Ramban launched an extensive campaign to raise awareness about various social welfare services. This initiative aims to educate the public about the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), the Child Helpline, the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the operations of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and the One Stop Centre (OSC).
District Social Welfare Officer Ramban, Rahul Gupta, highlighted the importance of the ISSS and NSAP pension schemes, which provide financial assistance to the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities. By explaining the eligibility criteria, benefits, and application process, the campaign aims to ensure that the most vulnerable sections of society can access these benefits.
Emphasizing the welfare of children, the DSWO stressed the significance of the 24/7 operational Child Helpline. This service provides immediate rescue and support for children in distress. The community is encouraged to use this resource to report child abuse, exploitation, or any situation endangering a child's safety.
To clarify the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the DSWO provided insights into this modern legal framework designed to streamline and improve India’s criminal justice system. Citizens are urged to familiarize themselves with their rights and the legal avenues available to them under the BNS.
The DSWO also explained the functions of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and the One Stop Centre (OSC). These institutions offer legal aid, psychological support, and rehabilitation services to women in distress. The OSC provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, making essential services more accessible.
Through community meetings, awareness camps, and door-to-door campaigns, the DSWO is ensuring that information about these schemes and services reaches every part of the district, particularly underserved and remote areas.
This outreach initiative by the Social Welfare Department enhances the community's understanding of essential services and strengthens the social welfare framework in Ramban. The DSWO's dedication and efforts underscore the district's commitment to the welfare and empowerment of its residents.
SRINAGAR: Continuing its action against drug peddlers, Police in Baramulla attached property (Residential house worth approx. Rs. 23.00 lacs) belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Mohd Sabir Barwal son of Faqeer Ali resident of Jabda Kamalkote at present Laghama Uri. The action was taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR No. 17/2022 u/s 8/21 & 29 NDPS Act of PS Uri.
The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police. This operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
JAMMU: The Centre for Molecular Biology at the Central University of Jammu is pleased to announce the commencement of the admission process for its prestigious M.Sc program in Biotechnology for the academic session 2024-26. This program, supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers a unique opportunity for aspiring biotechnologists.
There are only ten seats available and admission is based on GAT-B 2024 score. Each student admitted for the program will receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 5000 for the entire duration of the two years degree program. This year's admission process for academic session 2024-26 has commenced and the first merit list for admission shall be released on 15 July 2024.
This year the Centre has received an overwhelming response with approximately 270 applications from GAT-B qualified aspiring candidates for the ten available seats for admission to the prestigious program.
JAMMU: Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production Department (APD), Shailendra Kumar, chaired a meeting at Conference Hall of Directorate of Agriculture here to assess the progress achieved under various ongoing developmental projects of APD.
The meeting mainly focused on evaluating the physical and financial milestones attained under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), CAPEX, Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of JKCIP for the financial year 2024-25.
Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Horticulture Jammu, Director Horticulture (P&M) Jammu, Managing Director JKAGROS, Director Command Area Development Jammu, Joint Directors, Chief Agriculture and Horticulture Officers and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Addressing the officers during the meeting, the Principal Secretary emphasized on the importance of these projects in fostering agricultural growth and enhancing rural livelihoods across the region.
He impressed upon the officers to commit themselves towards achieving the targeted outcomes within stipulated timelines, ensuring optimal utilization of allocated resources and seamless coordination among all stakeholders involved.
The Principal Secretary called upon the officers to expedite the ongoing works on these projects so that required benefits are provided to farming community. During the meeting, the departmental heads, project managers and financial controllers provided detailed updates on the implementation status, challenges encountered and strategies to expedite pending activities under these schemes.
