JAMMU: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today paid his last respects to the deceased of yesterday’s Pahalgam terror attack. Union Home Minister said that Bharat will not bend to terror and the culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared.
Shri Amit Shah also met families of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. He said that every Indian feels the pain of losing loved ones in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and this sorrow cannot be expressed in words.
Union Home Minister visited the site of the Pahalgam terror attack and took a detailed briefing about the incident from officers.
Shri Shah also visited the injured of the Pahalgam terror attack, admitted to the hospital and assured them of every possible assistance.

PULWAMA: In a solemn expression of grief and solidarity, people of Pulwama came together today to mourn the tragic loss of innocent lives in the terrorist attack that occurred yesterday in Baisaran, Pahalgam.
A massive rally was organised in Pulwama town that culminated at the Clock Tower, here. The rally witnessed the participation of a broad spectrum of society, including members of the civil society, Bar Association, Traders Association, Transporters Union, Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, social activists, youth and locals in large numbers.
Participants raised slogans expressing solidarity with the bereaved families of the slain tourists and unequivocally condemned the cowardly and inhumane act of terror. The rally served as a strong message that the people of Pulwama stand for peace, coexistence and shared humanity and will not allow the terrorists to disturb the social fabric of the region.
Similar rallies were also organised at various places across District Pulwama including at Tral, Awantipora where people came together to condemn the attack and showed solidarity with the victims.
While expressing their profound grief over the tragic incident, the people of Pulwama also organised a candlelight march in town that culminated at Main Chowk Pulwama. Holding candles and placards, the participants walked in silence to honour the memory of the victims, reaffirming their collective commitment to peace and humanity.
The District Administration Pulwama has also established a 24x7 Help Desk and Emergency Control Room at the District Administrative Complex, DC Office Pulwama, to provide immediate assistance to visitors and tourists. Besides, as a mark of respect and solidarity to the departed souls, two minute silence was also observed today by all departments across district Pulwama.
JAMMU: The Council of Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir convened a crucial meeting today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, in the aftermath of heinous terror attack that occurred in Baisaran, Pahalgam on April 22, 2025.
The Council of Ministers expressed profound grief and outrage over the tragic loss of innocent lives and the injuries sustained by civilians in this barbaric and cowardly act. It unequivocally condemned this senseless act of terror, which constitutes a direct assault on peace, unity and the democratic values cherished by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Government stands in unwavering solidarity with the families of the victims and reaffirms its steadfast commitment towards ensuring justice, strengthening security and upholding the indomitable spirit of brotherhood and resilience that defines Jammu and Kashmir.
The Council of Ministers emphasized the Government’s firm determination to support in bringing the perpetrators of this horrific act to justice and take all necessary steps to safeguard the life and liberty of every citizen.
As a mark of respect, a two-minute silence was observed during the meeting.
The Council of Ministers further resolved that the following measures shall be undertaken:
1. While security is not the direct responsibility of the elected Government, the Council of Ministers shall work in close coordination with the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to ensure the life and safety of every citizen, especially tourists and residents in vulnerable areas.
2. Ensure immediate disbursement of ex-gratia relief among the next of kin of the deceased and to those injured, as announced.
3. Make necessary arrangements for the best possible medical treatment of the injured and facilitating the return of tourists and transportation of mortal remains with utmost dignity.
The Council of Ministers has appealed to all the communities, religious leaders, civil society and political parties to maintain calm and stand united against such forces that seek to divide and destabilize our region.
The Council of Ministers reiterates that the resolve of the Government and the people of Jammu and Kashmir shall not be shaken by such cowardly acts of violence. It urges every resident to remain united, vigilant and resilient.
“Let us reject fear and division and reaffirm our commitment to peace, unity, and the timeless spirit of harmony and shared resilience that defines our land”, resolved the Council of Ministers.
JAMMU: In an emotional and powerful expression of solidarity and grief, the University of Jammu today organized a solemn candlelight march in memory of the innocent tourists who lost their lives in the barbaric terror attack at Baisaran Pahalgam in Kashmir. Led by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, the senior university functionaries, faculty, staff, and students observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect for the departed souls. Holding flickering candles and heavy hearts, the university fraternity gathered to condemn the inhumane act that shook the conscience of the nation.
Interacting with the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai called for upholding peace and maintaining social harmony during these difficult times, saying “Our strength lies in our unity, our resilience, and our commitment to togetherness. All associations of the University of Jammu—including the Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA), Jammu University Officer’s Welfare Association (JUOWA), Jammu University Non-Teaching Employees Union (JUNTEU), and Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union (JUNGEU)—issued a joint statement expressing their profound anguish and unequivocal condemnation of the cowardly attack.
“This senseless act of brutality is not only an attack on innocent lives, but also an assault on the very ideals of humanity, peace, and unity. Targeting defenceless visitors who come to experience the cultural beauty of Kashmir is a despicable act that deserves the strongest possible rebuke,” the statement added. In this hour of collective sorrow, the University of Jammu reiterated its steadfast commitment to the ideals of justice, unity, and harmony. The candlelight march was not just a tribute to the victims—it was a loud and clear message that the voices of peace will always outshine the darkness of terror.
