He said that Pakistan sponsored terrorists have done a heinous crime and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
He also said that these attacks are directed to affect the peace process as well as the socio-economic conditions in the region, especially when the peak tourist season is initiating. “Modi Government stands firm on its resolution to deal terrorism with iron fist. It practices zero tolerance policy for terrorism, and swift retaliation is certain”, said Sat Sharma.
Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition, while condemning the attack, said that the tourists have been targeted in the Pahalgam area under the Anantnag District by the terrorists. For the past one year, Pakistan has been trying to create unrest in India under new modus operandi. It has been targeting the Hindu community in the Jammu region to create division in the region. It has also been claimed that the terrorists targeted after asking the name of victim.
The harm inflicted is irreversible and our security forces will neutralize every culprit in the shortest time possible. While condemning the terrorists' attack on tourists in the Pahalgam district in which at least six tourists have been injured, Chugh said it was an act of cowardice and was strongly reprehensible.
He said terrorists are trying to destroy the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir and have been trying to create an atmosphere of fear and panic in the tourist places. He said the security forces would give a befitting reply to them and bring the Pakistan-sponsored culprits to book. Chugh said people in J&K have been reviving the economic condition by the virtue of their hard work depending largely on tourism. But now the terrorists seem to be designing to defeat the tourism industry which the people of J&K would outrightly reject.

JAMMU: In response to growing public concern over soaring airfares following the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, senior BJP leader and party spokesperson Dr. Tahir has issued an urgent appeal to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ram Mohan Naidu to intervene and provide immediate relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Tahir said the ongoing disruption of surface connectivity due to landslides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has left residents with no option but to rely on air travel — which has now become unaffordable for a large section of the population. “It is deeply concerning that people are being forced to cancel essential travel — including for medical emergencies, educational needs, and business engagements — due to the skyrocketing cost of flight tickets between Jammu and Srinagar. This is not just a transportation issue, it’s turning into a humanitarian and economic crisis,” Dr. Tahir said.
Airfares for the Srinagar-Jammu route, which are usually modest, have soared to ₹12,000–₹15,000. Fares for longer routes, including Srinagar-Delhi and Srinagar-Mumbai, have surged to ₹28,000 and beyond, creating a situation of economic hardship and travel paralysis in the region. Dr. Tahir urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to immediately take regulatory steps to cap airfares and increase the number of flights operating to and from Kashmir to restore balance between demand and supply.
“The logic of demand and supply cannot be used to justify exploitation. If demand is high, the number of flights must be increased — not the ticket prices. We request the intervention of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and senior leadership to ensure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are not subjected to undue financial burden in times of crisis,” he added.
Highlighting the economic implications, Dr. Tahir said the steep airfares are severely affecting the people and economy of Jammu and Kashmir. “I strongly urge the central government to take immediate steps to regulate airfares and safeguard the economic interests of the region.,” Dr. Tahir stressed. The senior BJP leader also appealed to airlines to act with empathy and a sense of national responsibility, urging them to revisit their pricing policies during natural or logistical disruptions.
