JAMMU: Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, MLA from Ramnagar, strongly raised the issue of the collapse of the under-construction Chapel Bridge being constructed in Pyt. Surni which was meant to connect the villages of Dalsar, Badhole, Surni with Neeli, Jandrore, Chowki etc in his constituency.
Dr. Bhardwaj informed the House that substandard materials were being used in the construction of the bridge, which he personally inspected on-site. He demanded a strict inquiry into the incident as well as all the PWD under construction projects urging strict action against the contractors and officers responsible for the poor-quality work in Ramnagar Constituency. He further insisted that the contract should be cancelled, the contractor blacklisted, and a fresh tender be issued to ensure quality construction in such cases where quality is being compromised.
Additionally, Dr. Bhardwaj also raised the issue of the recent PWD delimitation where Panchayats like Knah, Dalsar, Badhole, Surni, Birnoo and Jandrore A & B of Ramnagar are kept under Udhampur division instead of Ramnagar which is nearest. He strongly urged that these panchayats be kept under the Ramnagar PWD Division for better administrative efficiency and public convenience. Dr. Bhardwaj reiterated his commitment to ensuring accountability in infrastructure projects and safeguarding the interests of the people in his constituency which is his utmost priority.
