BUDGAM: Under the supervision of SSP Budgam Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Police in Budgam organised awareness programmes at Spring Buds Educational Institute Ompora and Townhall Khansahib. These Programmes were aimed at enlightening the general masses about the latest developments in the Indian legal framework and the newly introduced criminal laws: BNS, BNSS and BSA.
At Spring Buds Educational Institute Ompora Budgam, the event was Chaired by DySP Headquarters Budgam Shri Sajad Ahmad-JKPS accompanied by SHO Police Station Budgam. The programme was attended by the principal, teaching staff and students of the institution.
Similarly, at Townhall Khansahib the event was chaired by SHO PS Khansahib. The programme was attended by respectable citizens, community representatives and other stakeholders. Additionally, other Police officers from Police Station Khansahib also participated in the event.
The chairing officers explained key aspects of New Criminal Laws, highlighting the replacement of IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act with new criminal laws. The participants also got familiarised that new criminal laws are victim centric and aim to ensure speedy Justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders. They also shed light on the provision for registering Zero FIRs and e-FIRs. The new laws also incorporate modern investigation techniques, utilizing technology to enhance the justice system.
Participants actively engaged in discussions, asking questions and seeking clarifications on the new legal provisions. Police remains committed to spreading awareness and ensuring that citizens are well-informed about the newly introduced criminal laws in the country.
