JAMMU: It is most unfortunate that even after the killings of 25 members of Sikh community and injuries to eight in an attack on a Gurudwara in the capital city of Kabul few days ago, no effective steps have been taken by the Afghanistan government for the security of the community and also the Gurudwara, where this massacre took place while people were performing morning prayers.
This was stated by National Sikh Front Chairman & Jammu Kashmir BJP senior leader S. Virenderjeet Singh, while expressing sympathies with the bereaved families, who stressed upon the Afghanistan government to immediately provide adequate security around the said Gurudwara and also deploy good strength of security men in the areas housing population of Sikhs and other minorities in different parts of Afghanistan. As the Sikhs in Afghanistan are living under the shadow of threats and feeling insecure, inducing a sense of safety becomes the duty of the government and take care of its citizens without discriminating on the basis of oneâs religion or gender, he said.
S. Varinderjeet Singh, termed the incident as the most unfortunate and said that the killers of humanity made the brutal attack at the time when the whole world is facing the grave threat by Covid 19 infection spread. The attack was devastating at more devastating was the timing of the atrocious act.
S. Virenderjeet Singh also urged upon the Indian government to take up the issue of the security of Sikhs in Afghanistan at government level as the Sikhs there have been time and again targeted resulting into killings and damage to properties. How much fear among this community has now grown is clear from what the families of those killed in the terror attack has said that Sikhs are tired of living in Afghanistan.
