BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam, Akshay Labroo along with SSP Budgam, Nikhil Borkar today conducted an extensive tour of various majorly Shia populated areas to take stock of arrangements for the ensuing holy month of Muharram-ul-Harram in advance.
During the tour, DC visited various Imam Baras, including Central Imam Bara Budgam, Imam Bara Bemina, Markazi Imam Bara Chattergam, Imam Bara Khanda and Imam Bara Magam, where he met local residents and committee members and took stock of arrangements being placed for the smooth conduct of Muharram processions and religious congregations.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that a meeting was conducted with all members of different shia associations in advance to review all required arrangements that are put in place in timely for the seamless conduct of all Muharram-ul-Harram related rituals this year. He said work has been initiated including macadimazation of various roads where processions take place during Muharram.
He directed the officers to ensure all the required arrangements, including restoration and installation of street lights, uninterrupted electricity and water supply in all areas and levelling work on all processions roads and inner links be taken up and completed before the start of the holy month. He said that special sanitation drives are being carried out at all Imam Baras to facilitate mourners attend Muharram processions and congregations seamlessly.
In order to supply adequate potable water to Budgam Town, the DC informed that entire Budgam Town area shall be covered under Amrut 2.0 for which proposal has been projected to the government. The DC further instructed CMO Budgam to ensure all medical facilities including team of doctors shall remain available at all major Imam Baras.
Directions for advance timber dumping and ration supply be ensured in all areas. He said that other major demands projected by locals shall be projected in this financial plan for their approval and early execution. Among other officers, CPO, respective SDMs, SE R&B, CMO, Executive Engineers from PDD, PHE, R&B, AD FCS&CA, FSO, DR Cooperative, EOs and senior officers from other concerned offices also accompanied DC during the tour.
