UDHAMPUR: District Election Officer Udhampur, Saloni Rai, convened a meeting with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to discuss the second Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls 2024. The meeting took place in the mini Conference Hall, DC Office Complex and attended by Deputy District Election Officer Dr Anirudh Rai; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan, alongside other EROs and AEROs.
The DEO conducted a detailed review of the action plan for the smooth and successful execution of the SSR. She informed that the Election Commission of India has mandated the completion of pre-revision activities and the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls, with July 1, 2024, as the qualifying date.
In-depth discussions were held on various aspects of the SSR, including its provisions and parameters, as well as the progress achieved in the district so far. The DEO urged the EROs and AEROs to ensure the addition of new voters, inclusion of left-out voters, and deletion of duplicate entries before the assigned due date. She emphasized the need to activate all resources and complete the SSR 2024 process within the given timeline.
The officers involved in the SSR were encouraged to work with dedication and zeal to achieve 100 percent enrolment of eligible voters. The DEO stressed that not a single eligible person should remain unregistered. She highlighted that the primary objective of the SSR is to maintain an updated Electoral Roll, provide opportunities for the fresh enrolment of young eligible voters who have attained the age of 18 or more as of the qualifying date, and allow for corrections in electors' particulars and objections against any incorrect inclusions in the Electoral Roll. EROs and AEROs were directed to clear all pending tasks, and it was mandated that house-to-house verification be completed by Booth Level Officers by July 4.
