REASI: A meeting of the District Level Committee of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was convened today under the chairpersonship of District Magistrate Vishesh Mahajan here in the DC Office Complex. The meeting aimed to formulate a comprehensive strategy to counter the menace of drug abuse in Reasi district. The DM meticulously reviewed the implementation of measures taken and the breakthrough achieved in eliminating drug abuse and drug peddling.
At the outset, the DM took a detailed appraisal from members of the NCORD Committee regarding the current scenario of drug-related occurrences, areas of concern and hot spots of drug abuse and peddling. He directed SDM Katra to conduct regular tests on all Ponywalas, Pithuwalas, and auto drivers to ensure they are free from drug abuse. He instructed the Drug Inspector to share a list of shops selling psychotropic drugs. Any shop found selling these drugs without proper authorization will face strict action, including the sealing of their premises.
He emphasized the need for collaboration between ARTO and SDMs to set up checkpoints (nakas) and use drug testing kits to check drivers for substance abuse. The DM Vishesh Mahajan underscored the importance of a coordinated effort and urged all committee members to work diligently to create a drug-free Reasi. ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Kulbushan Khajuria, ACD Pardeep Kumar, SDM Katra Piyush Dhotra, Principal of Govt. Degree Colleges and other officers are present in the meeting.
