SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner Samba Abhishek Sharma today chaired the District-Level Committee review meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) here in the Conference Hall DC office. The meeting was attended by key officials including ASP Surinder Choudhary; ADC Suresh Sharma; ACR Kusum Chib’ SDM Gaghwal, Sunaina Saini, SDM Vijaypur, Umesh Sharma, Principal GDC Samba, representatives from BSF, Deputy Commandant and other district and sectoral officers.
The stakeholder departments informed the chair regarding the actions taken to curb drug abuse and narcotics trade in the district. It was reported that CCTV cameras have been installed in 100% Medical Stores and 70% of these have started computerized billing, while show-cause notices have been issued to the remaining 30% firms/shops.
The DC emphasized the importance of the NIDAAN portal, the seizure of property belonging to drug peddlers and the need for spreading mass awareness against drug abuse. He directed the Principals of GDCs and heads of other educational institutions to hold parent-teacher meetings to gather feedback from parents. Additionally, he instructed the DYSSO to improve the condition of grounds across the district and engage youth in sports activities. The need for random checking of street vendors operating around Educational institutions was stressed.
Underscoring the need for sustained efforts from law enforcement agencies to monitor and control substance abuse, he urged all stakeholders to work in a coordinated manner. He also directed district officers to submit a monthly progress report. Furthermore, SDMs were directed to convene meetings at the sub-division level and conduct random checks of medicine shops to ensure 100% computerized billing.
