SRINAGAR: In a significant breakthrough, Police in Handwara, successfully apprehended a notorious and habitual timber smuggler, who was evading his arrest since March 2023. Based on a human intelligence and technological resources, a police party led by SHO PS Qalamabad successfully apprehended a notorious and habitual timber smuggler namely Mohd Ashraf Chechi son of Lal Din Chechi resident of Shiltra Qalamabad. The culprit has been evading his arrest since March 2023.
Pertinently, a Public Safety Act (PSA) warrant was issued by District Magistrate Kupwara on March 03, 2023 against him as he is known for orchestrating a network of illegal timber trade. Handwara Police encourage citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may threaten the well-being of the community.
