SRINAGAR: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have arrested 11 persons and seized 11 vehicles in Kulgam. Today Kulgam Police along with officers of Geology and Mining Department seized 11 vehicles (02 JCB, 05 tractors and 04 dumpers) and arrested 11 persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Vishaw river at Ashmuji Bhan, Matalhama and other areas.
Accordingly, a case with FIR No. 176/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been set into motion. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
