SRINAGAR: An awareness camp was organized by J&K Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) on solid waste management in Dal Lake catchment at Maloori Nallah today. The awareness programme was attended by Vice Chairman LAWDA, officers and officials of the authority, schools children, teachers, locals and a volunteer from California.
The VC LAWDA highlighted the importance of solid waste management for the conservation of Dal/Nigeen lake. On the occasion, the Project Officer of the authority also highlighted the impacts of solid waste on human health as well as on environment. The VC LAWDA directed the project officer to continue the drive so that the important nallahs of the Dal/Nigeen lake which are the main source of the water to the lake will be cleared.
