SRINAGAR: An introductory meeting of Environmental Committee of the Legislative Council was held here today under the chairmanship of MLC, Saif-ud-Din Bhat. Legislators, Dr Bashir Ahmed Shah Veeri, Showkat Hussain Ganai, Mohammad Muzaffer Parrey and Surinder Ambardar attended the meeting and gave their suggestions.
The committee held detailed deliberations on various environmental issues in the state including scientific disposal of waste produced in hospitals and industries. The Committee also reviewed the initiatives taken during the last several years to reduce pollution in the state particularly in and around water bodies.
