JAMMU: Members of the Save My Tawi Campaign, a voluntarily organization working for awareness about rising pollution and development of river Tawi have welcomed the CMP, Common Minimum Program of the present coalition government where both the parties Bhartiya Janta Party and Peoples Democratic as an agreement have promised for the cleaning and beautification of the Jhelum and Tawi on the pattern of Ganga.
Calling it as welcome response of the coalition partners to the long pending demand of the citizens for pollution free water bodies in the state. Dewaker Sharma, advocate and founder of Save My Tawi campaign on behalf of Save My Tawi organization have congratulated the present government and said that the written promises should be executed in letter and spirit. Raman Sharma, another founder member of Save My Tawi also thanked the leadership of both the parties, he said if the local water bodies of Jammu are taken care of then it would not only be helpful for reviving ecological balance but can also give a boost to tourism industry resulting lot of employment avenues for the young unemployed youth. Sharma said, Tawi is a living heritage and identity of Jammu thus it is collective responsibility of government and society to save it for future generations.
