SRINAGAR: The Sub Committee of the Committee on Environment headed by Mrs. Shamim Firdous today conducted on the spot inspections of Dal Lake and its peripheral areas to take stock of the functioning of various STPs commissioned and completed alongside the lake especially the main STP at Brari-Nambal, Srinagar.
Legislators, Mr. Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mr. Altaf Ahmad Wani, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Mr. Yawar Ahmad Mir and Mtr. Anjum Fazili were the members of the sub-committee besides officers of Housing and Urban Development Department, Pollution Control Board, Environment and Ecology, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and LAWDA accompanied the Sub-Committee during the visit.
The Committee visited Brari-Nambal, Dal Lake, Char Chinari and Konikot area during the tour. The Sub-Committee would study the present situation of Dal Lake and its peripheral areas and submit its report to the Committee on Environment so that effective measures could be taken up for its conservation.
