JAMMU: Former Deputy Mayor of Jammu and senior BJP leader Baldev Singh Billawaria visited several wards of Jammu city and reviewed the deep drain cleaning campaign being run by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).
Speaking on the occasion, Billawaria said that almost all the deep drains have been cleaned but the delegation of Ward 22 Shastri Nagar and Ward 43 Nanak Nagar met him and informed that people are not satisfied with the cleaning of the drains.
Billawaria said that in this context, today several wards were visited along with the JMC Chief Transport Officer Dharambir Singh and his team and the drain cleaning work was reviewed. He directed the officers present on the spot to start the deep drain cleaning drive once again, to which the officer agreed and started the cleaning drive.
Billawaria further said that monsoon is about to hit Jammu, all the former corporators are working together with the JMC officials so that the people living in Jammu city do not have to face waterlogging. He said that though the term of the corporators who represent Jammu Municipal Corporation has ended, the corporators are still solving the problems of the people by coordinating with the officers of the corporation.
Billawaria said that the work being done by JMC Commissioner Rahul Yadav and his team regarding cleanliness in Jammu city is commendable and praiseworthy. He emphasized that cleanliness is the responsibility of every citizen and urged the people to use dustbins to dispose of their garbage and keep the environment around them clean. He said that under no circumstances should garbage be thrown in the deep drains of your area and cooperate with the corporation in keeping the drains clean.
Billawaria further said that the holy pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath ji has started, in such a situation it is the responsibility of all the people of Jammu, business community, prominent citizens of Jammu to ensure that the devotees coming to the city get a clean environment. Ranjit Singh, KL Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Rajan Sharma, Suraj Prakash, Shashi Kant, Jagan Nath and other prominent citizens were present.
