JAMMU: Continuing its efforts for the betterment of a healthy society and to create awareness among the student to aware them about the increasing affects of Swine Flu (H1N1 VIRUS) Parivartan-NGO organized an awareness camp at the Government High school, Kachi Chowni here today. On the occasion, more than two hundred students including the staff members of the school were provided masks for the prevention of this epidemic. The stationery items like Pen, Pencil and note books were also distributed among the children by the members of NGO.

 

In his address to the students, an eminent social worker Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, who was the chief guest during the camp said that the main motive behind organizing this camp in the premises of government school that there was a need to generate an awareness amongst the student with regards to the precautions to be taken and steps to deal with the epidemic. The campaign evoked tremendous response and was appreciated by the staff members of the school, who remain unaware due to lack of infrastructure facilities. On the occasion, Vikas Sharma, Chairman of the Parivartan, gave a detailed presentation regarding symptoms, causes and diagnosis of the disease. He informed that Swine Flu is not a deadly disease but it is important to take all the necessary preventive measures.

 

Giving an overview of the symptoms of swine flu, he exhorted all to be careful with excessive sneeze, cough and fever, ultimately causing lung infection. He emphasized the need to maintain neatness and cleanliness, not only in one’s home, but also in the surroundings to help the society to overcome an epidemic which has a lethal virulence. He said that the people of certain age groups like children under five years and people over 65 years are more prone to the infection. He gave a detailed note on vaccination and treatment for the disease. He further hailed the efforts done by the staff members and the principal of school for keeping a neat and clean atmosphere for the students in school. Among others present on the occasion included, Rajinder Singh, Vishal Targotra, Naresh, Mukesh Oberai, Sahil Sharma and Joginder.
