Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner hailed the initiative of RTO, Kashmir for making availability of 10 Mahindra Scorpio and 24 retrofitted high end motorcycles with modern technology features to be deployed with Traffic Police. While interacting with the ARTOs at the occasion, the DC stressed them to ensure optimum use of these retrofitted vehicles and emphasised upon them to make use of vehicles on such stretches where traffic jams occur often.
The DC also hoped that the vehicles will prove helpful in redressing the traffic issues and in better traffic management. He said that it is an effort to empower Transport Offices to ensure quick and better response in regulating vehicular movement and maintaining traffic discipline.
The DC further stressed on conducting awareness workshops in educational institutions, bus yards and other places to sensitize students, general public, transporters and other stockholders. He said such programmes will help in streamlining the traffic system and develop the habit of following traffic rules, besides overcoming the rising accidents to save precious lives.
