At the outset, the DC who is also the Chairman District Advisory Committee(DAC) took a detailed account of Provision of Registrations, Inspections, Mechanism for monitoring and implementation of PCPNDT Act in the District. He also discussed the enforcement measures in place in execution of the ACT.

During the meeting, the DC/Chairman DAC also reviewed case put forth before him for grant of provisional registration of cases under Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to stop female foeticides and arrest the declining sex ratio.

The DC/Chairman DAC, after detailed deliberations, scrutinization and proper screening of each case in consonance with the laid guidelines, accorded approval for provisional registration of as many as 36 cases under Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.

On the occasion, the DC stressed on taking immediate steps to stop mushroom growth of ill equipped pathological and microbiological laboratories lacking in infrastructure and technical expertise to ensure up to mark healthcare facilities to the patients in the District. He also stressed on intensifying inspections of the clinical establishments in Srinagar to ensure that they are operating their business as per laid guidelines.

The DC also laid emphasis on the effective and strict implementation of the PC&PNDT Act in Srinagar District and directed concerned officers to take action against violators.  He also asked the members of the Committee to ensure that all files/cases related 

to grant of provisional registrations must enclose proper checklists mentioning minimum requirements with standardized site plan in accordance with the guidelines of PC&PNDT Act. Earlier, the Chief Medical Officer gave a detailed appraisal to the chair with regard to regulation and registration of Ultrasound Clinics in the District.
