JAMMU: In a touching demonstration of compassion and generosity, a 61-year-old patient declared brain dead at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital will contribute to saving multiple lives through organ donation. The patient was declared brain dead on 30 January after suffering a severe, ultimately-fatal stroke along with high blood pressure issues. Despite the family's grief, their selfless decision transforms personal loss into a life-saving opportunity for strangers in need of organ transplants.
The hospital's skilled transplant team initiated the organ retrieval process, successfully obtaining a heart, liver, and kidneys. The organ retrieval process started today at 8:30 AM by the skilled transplant team at the hospital. The heart was harvested first around 11 AM, followed by the liver and then the kidneys by 12:30 PM. These vital organs will be allocated to recipients, including a 16-year-old girl at MGM Healthcare Chennai and a patient at Jaypee Hospital Noida.

In donating his organs, the 61-year old donor has embodied the highest ideals of empathy, generosity and the human spirit.
