UDHAMPUR: The Department of Information and Public Relations, Udhampur organized a cultural cum variety programme on second day of the Historic Devika Baisaki Mela on banks of the holy rivulet. The programme was organized in collaboration with district administration Udhampur. Large number of people belonging to all walks of life witnessed the cultural bonanza and got acquainted with Dogri music, folk dance, customs and social evils prevalent in the society. Artists drawn from different areas of the town participated in the programmes, comprising of folk songs depicting rich dogra culture.
The cultural show was supplemented with Punjabi Bhangra presented by Kamal Jeet Kamal and Jawans of the 137 Bn CRPF. The District administration had made elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the Mela by way ensuring uninterrupted power, safe drinking water, sanitation, medicare, Police Control Room, assistance booth and security at the mela site. Various departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, Sheep, Apiculture, Handicraft, Handloom and Animal Husbandry had put up their departmental stalls to educate the masses about various state and centrally sponsored schemes especially for socio economic upliftment.
