  • Being one of the top engineering colleges in the country’s capital, KIET Group of Institutions will now be better streamlined with the global pedagogical requirements

NEW DELHI: KIET Group of Institutions, one of the leading engineering colleges in Delhi-NCR, proudly announces that it has been granted autonomous status. This significant milestone marks a new era of academic freedom and innovation for the institution, which has been shaping the future of technical education since its inception in 1998 by the Krishna Charitable Society.

Achieving autonomous status empowers KIET to independently design and update its curriculum, ensuring it stays ahead of industry needs and emerging trends. This newfound freedom allows the institution to implement innovative teaching methods, making learning more practical and experiential for students. Autonomy also means KIET can conduct exams and assessments independently, focusing on comprehensive evaluation methods that promote holistic development.

"For KIET Group of Institutions, education has always meant a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application. Achieving autonomous status allows us to enhance this blend, providing a more dynamic and responsive educational environment. With this autonomy, we can better tailor our programs to meet the evolving demands of the industry and society, ensuring our students are well-equipped for their future careers," said Dr. Manoj Goel, Joint Director of KIET Group of Institutions.

For students, autonomy translates to a customized and contemporary curriculum that enhances employability, more opportunities for research and internships, and exposure to diverse and innovative teaching methodologies. The flexible academic structure will increase student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities.

Faculty members will benefit from greater academic freedom to design courses, introduce new programs, and update existing ones based on their expertise and emerging fields. This autonomy fosters enhanced professional development and opens new avenues for industry partnerships and collaborative projects.

As an institution, KIET will experience better governance, streamlined administrative processes, and increased opportunities for national and international collaborations. This will significantly enhance KIET's reputation, attracting higher caliber students and faculty, and allowing the institution to quickly adapt to changing educational and industry landscapes.

KIET is poised to prioritize cutting-edge research in technology, engineering, and applied sciences. The institution will emphasize on the implementation of ‘Multiple Entry Multiple Exit’ (MEME) system, as proposed under NEP 2020 and also introduce interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies for developing niche programs tailored to emerging fields. Collaborations with industry leaders for research and development projects will be expanded, providing students and faculty with unparalleled opportunities to contribute to and benefit from these initiatives.

KIET plans to roll out the new autonomous framework in phases, starting with curriculum redesign and administrative restructuring in the first year. Full integration of autonomous operations is anticipated within two to three years, ensuring all stakeholders are well-adjusted to the new system.Additionally, KIET will establish a dedicated Autonomous Governance Committee to oversee the transition and ongoing operations. New academic programs and short-term courses tailored to industry needs will be introduced, along with enhanced student support services, including international exchange opportunities.

KIET aims to strengthen its global footprint through partnerships with international universities and research institutions. The institution is committed to sustainability and social responsibility, integrating these themes into the curriculum and campus activities. Continuous professional development programs for faculty will ensure they are equipped with the latest teaching and research skills, supported by increased investment in infrastructure and technology for advanced learning and research environments.
