JAMMU: The music lovers of Jammu were enchanted by the flight  of free verse and melody of music supplementing each other at a unique programme entitled ‘Chamatkaar’ organized by the Dogri Sanstha at K L Sehgal Hall of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here today. In the first ever programme of its kind, based on the heart-rendering poems of Padma Saachdev, Ved Rahi, Lalit Magotra, Chhatrapal and Shashi Pathania, the magic of compositions prepared by the noted music director Brij Mohan left the audience spell bound. The programme with most effectual format incorporating recital of couplets of poems by noted voices of theatre and Radio and live singing of same couplets by prominent singers was a splendid experience for most of the audience.

The soleful singing of poems were rendered by Naveen Sharma, Indu Bala and teenager upcoming singer Vanshika Jaral while the thespian Sudhir Mahajan, Promila Jamwal, Rajni Bhatti and Rahul Singh gave voices to the live recitation of  poems. The singers were accompanied by Rakesh Anand on flute, Sanjay Pashi on Guitar and Karan Malhotra on Tabla.

Earlier welcoming the audience President of Dogri Sanstha Chhatrapal said that Sanstha has been organizing musical evenings to popularize poetry in routine but the present programme based on free verses is a rare experiment as even such ventures have not been very prevalent in film industry. Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest the noted vocalist and Station Director of Radio Kashmir Jammu Sh. Vijay Sambyal (Rangeele Thakur) informed that RKJ shall also arrange a musical evening based on free verse in Dogri. Prof Lalit Magotra, while presiding over the function congratulated the Sanstha and Brij Mohan who has ventured this experiment in most successful manner. The event was ably anchored by known intellectual Ravinder Koul who presented some sample of free verses of Shakespeare, Ali Sardar Jafari, Dhumil and Madhukar. The vote of thanks was presented by Nirmal Vinod, the General Secretary of Sanstha.
