SRINAGAR: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday clarified its stand on supporting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in his day-long hunger strike against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. On Monday, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut attended Naidu's fast in New Delhi, which was also attended by several opposition leaders as a show of strength and solidarity.

In an editorial in Saamana, the party mouthpiece, Sena said that the coalition government between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir fell apart after being in power for around four years. The editorial said that the BJP joined hands with PDP despite the fact that a PDP MP had demanded the remains of separatist Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder, Maqbool Bhat, and 2001 Parliament attack convict, Afzal Guru.

"Shiv Sena stands by its ideology of Hindutva. The party is ideologically against AIMIM leader Owaisi and PDP. While BJP talks about nationalism, PM Narendra Modi was seen sharing the stage with PDP when they were in coalition," read the editorial. "The central government has ignored promises made to Andhra Pradesh," the editorial said. Saamana editorial said that the BJP "makes and breaks an alliance" but if their alliance partner does the same, they will have a problem.
