RAJOURI: In a significant effort to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri, Bishamber Dass, organized an online panel discussion under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan for students of Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) across eight educational zones of the districtâBaljarallan, Darhal, Doongi, Koteranka, Manjakote, Peeri, Rajouri, and Thannamandi.
The event witnessed the participation of approximately 1,500 students along with their Nodal Officers from 30 government Higher Secondary Schools. Bishamber Dass inaugurated the session, welcoming all participants and emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among the youth. He expressed optimism about the impact of this initiative in promoting a drug-free society.
The panel discussion featured two esteemed panelists Dr. Romesh Kumar, Senior Lecturer, Counselor, and renowned Psychologist from the School Education Department and Altaf Javaid Dar, Senior Lecturer in Zoology. The session was moderated by Mohammad Ayaz Raina, Lecturer, who posed insightful questions to the experts on various aspects of drug abuse, its impact on young minds, and strategies for prevention and rehabilitation.
Abdul Raheem, District Social Welfare Officer, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. In his address, he commended the Education Department for its proactive measures in addressing this critical issue and for engaging students in meaningful awareness programs.
The discussion highlighted the psychological, social, and physical consequences of drug abuse and provided actionable solutions to deal with addiction. The event reinforced the commitment of the district administration and the education department to protect the future of students by creating a safe and healthy learning environment. The program concluded with a strong resolve to carry forward the awareness campaign at the grassroots level, ensuring that no student falls prey to this social evil.
