BANDIPORA: As per the Calendar of activities for the month of December 2025, District Legal Services Authority, Bandipora today observed World AIDS Day with a series of awareness programmes aimed at promoting public understanding about HIV/AIDS, eliminating stigma, and ensuring access to healthcare and support services for affected individuals.

The awareness programme was conducted under the directions of Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Bandipora, Jeema Bashir and guidance of Secretary DLSA Bandipora Sheikh Babar Hussain.The event was organized at the ADR Centre Bandipora, in collaboration with Health Department, Education Department, NGOs and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). 

The programme witnessed participation of students, frontline health workers, legal professionals, civil society members and community representatives. Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Advocate Abid Hussain Malla, highlighted the significance of the day, reiterating the global theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response”, calling for sustained political leadership, international cooperation and human rights-centered approaches to end AIDS BY 2030. He further emphasized the collective responsibility of institutions and citizens in combating discrimination, ensuring care, and spreading accurate information regarding prevention and treatment.

Experts from the Health Department conducted interactive sessions on HIV transmission, prevention methods, available treatment facilities, and the importance of regular testing. Participants were sensitized about the legal rights of persons living with HIV/AIDS, confidentiality safeguards, and welfare schemes available under the law. The event concluded with a pledge to work towards a society free from stigma and discrimination, where all individuals have access to healthcare and dignity.
