DODA: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Harvinder Singh, a comprehensive market checking, anti-encroachment and traffic enforcement drive was today conducted in Doda town. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Doda, Anil Kumar Thakur led the operation with the active participation of Police, enforcement teams from Traffic Police and Municipal Council.

The drive focused on restoring market discipline, ensuring smooth vehicular and pedestrian movement and maintaining hygiene standards in public places. Encroachments made by shopkeepers and building material owners were removed, and goods placed illegally outside shops were cleared to make footpaths and public spaces easily accessible. Multiple vehicles parked unsystematically and causing obstruction were removed or towed, while several challans were issued by the Traffic Police for violations including wrong parking, lack of required documents and disruption of public convenience.

In addition, teams from the Food Safety Department and the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department inspected hotels, restaurants and tea stalls to check hygiene, food quality and storage. Necessary advisories were issued to establishments found lacking in hygiene norms.

The ADC urged the traders, vendors and transport operators to follow rules strictly and cooperate with the administration to keep the town clean, organised and congestion-free. He further emphasised that such enforcement drives will continue to ensure an orderly market environment, safe traffic movement and better public service delivery. The public widely appreciated the initiative, acknowledging its positive impact on safety, cleanliness and overall discipline in the town.
