JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir BJP General Secretary and former Deputy Mayor of Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria, said that Guru Ravidass gave the message of equality and mutual brotherhood to society. He was speaking with Balbir Ram Rattan, National General Secretary of the Indian branch of the British Ravidassia Heritage Foundation, about the life of Guru Ravidass and his social contributions. On this occasion, both discussed in detail the teachings of Guru Ravidass and his efforts toward social upliftment.
Baldev Singh Billawaria said that India is the land of great saints, where all have given messages of equality, brotherhood, and humanity. Among these saints, the 15th-century saint Guru Ravidas holds a special place. He dedicated his entire life to establishing a society where everyone receives equal rights and respect. He said that Guru Ravidass strongly opposed discrimination based on caste, sect, and class, and envisioned a society where all people live with love, equality, and dignity.
Billawaria further said that the words of Guru Ravidas still inspire society today. His message is not for any particular community but for the whole of humanity. Values such as social harmony, brotherhood, and equal opportunities for all are just as relevant today as they were in his time. He said that it is necessary to spread Guru Ravidasâs ideas among the masses so that problems like inequality and discrimination can be completely eliminated from society.
On this occasion, Balbir Ram Rattan said that the life of Guru Ravidass is a symbol of struggle and dedication. He was born in an era when social divisions were intense, but he broke through all these barriers and showed the path of humanity and equality. Rattan said that Guru Ravidass proved through his life and teachings that knowledge, devotion, and humanity are never dependent on any caste or class. Balbir said that only by walking on the path shown by him can a truly egalitarian and classless society be created.
